Can-Can is such a beauty! Look at those elegant legs. Boopster, I think you're right about my husband and our "foster" horse. When he called me at work to say she'd arrived, and breathlessly described her as "the most beautiful horse in the whole world" I immediately realized my Bronx-born hubby had just gotten his first horse. I'm glad to hear you don't think she's too thin. If memory serves me, the full-body photo was taken a few days after the stall shot, and it's possible she gained a little bit of weight during that time. She only looks ribby from certain angles and while flexing sideways, although the top of her rump looks thin to me. That might be her conformation, though. She's a big gangly thing.

I'm reluctant to use it and don't know that I will. There has apparently been a problem since January, so that makes me think that photobucket site administrater isn't too good about this stuff. Really makes me mad because I have tons of WSown photos stored there since 2006. When I get time I think I'm going to open an account elsewhere. Some people don't believe that we got the virus there, becase they haven't gotten it. But I also used the site since 2006 before it hit me, a fact they don't seem to consider. My husband has restored internet service to the infected computer but it still has 4 trojan viruses. I only use that computer to read email or other stuff and not to send email or even post to gardenweb. I am using his clean laptop to post now. Proudgm, I know you said someone else repaired your computer, but can you find out what program they used? It might help me a lot!!! I really hate using a laptop. Karen

Yes, this is an interesting and amusing thread. My wife started gardening about 15 years ago. A small garden but it did look nice when it bloomed. I helped dig up a half circle 15' in the front yard and she bought perennials and such and tended it for about 3 yrs with our daughter. I had little or no interest and had better(?) things to do. Then she got into computer games and has been inside the computer and xbox for the last dozen or so years? The online stuff/ She did em all. About 5 yrs ago I started doing gardening and landscaping on a limited budget. I dumpster dove, thrift stored, found after season sales and discarded plants and received some 'half dead' plants that I resurrected. Each year I had a different theme for the yard since I took out all the grass, moved her original plants, brought in free dirt, built a strawberry hill, and planted trees (some dead- hey, the squirrels and birds I feed don't know they are dead---just gives them a place to perch and check out the scene before venturing in to eat.) I dug up the boulevard. Well, wife and her family joke about some things---up theirs. It is my refuge. As I told wife and son once, you want me in there bugging you about equal 'puter time or rearranging the office? If not, then bug off. So I dig, and play and move things about and watch the birds and sqirrels (hard to draw more than sparrows in the city but I get a few cardinals and the like occassionally.) If I decide to give up this hobby I will take up fishing again and hunting for a sweetie pie who is also lonely. Some spouses should be glad they can look out the window and see their SO doing what they enjoy rather than sitting around wondering what they are doing.

Guess that's why ..." Social Security didn't start until 1942. So, since your grandfather died in 1928 he never would have had an opportunity to pay into the system. Even though your grandmother didn't pass away until 1961 (and would have had ample opportunity to have Social Security deductions from her pay), and even though you say she never collected Social Security benefits herself, that's not why her name wouldn't appear on the Social Security Death Index. Folks only appear on that list if the decedent had been issued a Social Security Number AND their death has been reported to the Social Security Administration. And, basically, a death is considered "reported to" them when a claim is made for death benefits to be paid out -- the sum ($255) that's paid as a "one-time death benefit" or when survivors (spouse or children) file a claim for survivors' benefits. So, your grandmother could have had a Social Security Number; could have been paying into the system on a regular basis; but if no claim for after-death benefits had been filed, her name would not appear on the Social Security Death Index.
