I am getting this message when trying to install a program that uses an Install Wizard which cannot complete the installation due to an interruption by the error. Does anyone know how to correct this? Many Thanks.
Thanks Raven: The program is a download of DAK Wave and MP3 Recorder and Editor. It is the installer exe for the program. It calls forth the Installer Wizard which does not complete the installation due to an interruption mentioned in my original post. I looked at the google results but could not make heads or tails of what to do. I have contacted DAK but they are slow to answer. Do you have further suggestions? John W
Hi Zep Thanks for the response. I am using Win 7 Home Premium on a Compaq Presario about 15 months old. It is a purchase that I made with DAK for the v7.1b Wave & MP3 Recorder Editor. It was a bonus deal with a number of other LP/Casette programs. All of the other programs in the deal downloaded and installed without a problem. I have emailed DAK without a response yet. I have called their 800 number but it is always busy. I have used their trial downloads before and thought I would buy this one (dirt cheap). I hope you and Raven have some idea of how I can replace the Windows Installer if it is the problem. The file name that is mentioned in the error MIXEDPICS I have used before for a folder name. I know how to RE -install the windows installer on xp, but I'd need to investigate that for windows 7. As I said it could be a package installer problem too (MIXEDPICS.) Microsoft use to have a tool windows Installer Clean up utility to assist in these errors or at least something to try. It's no longer available because the tool often caused other problems. I saw that program and it looks quite big so I'm guessing something could go wrong with all the files being downloaded. I am wondering if a search for Installer Error 1325 win 7 would, show any possible fixes or others having the same issue. That's where I would start. It's unlikely that a new win 7 machine would have that error and I tend to lean towards the file itself. This program was also offered for free at one point from "Give away of the day"...I will look around, we can see what others might have to say and hope DAK gets back to you.
John just to make sure is the version you are trying to install compatible with windows 7 64 bit? many programs are not. Does it specifically say windows 7 64 bit compatible on the program specs?
Found it, I didn't know you could still download it. If you decide to use it I would create a restore point before doing so. Unless it does turn out to be a 64 bit compatibility problem.
Windows Installer CleanUp Utility 7.2
"When you are working on your computer and installing a new program, the installation suddenly fails. Now you are left with a partly installed program. You try to install the program again, but you are unsuccessful. Or, maybe you have problems trying to remove an old program because the installation files are corrupted."
Warning The Windows Installer CleanUp Utility is provided "as is" to help resolve installation problems for programs that use Microsoft Windows Installer. If you use this utility, you may have to reinstall other programs. Caution is advised. We recommend that you do not use this utility with 2007 Office system products.
