Luvs...Kathleen...Acorn Naps/My Blunder!!

When I said I puchased Acorn Napkin Rings...I must have been in 'LaLaLand' ! When I went to take them out of the drawer...I laughed and realized - They Are 'Pinecone' Napkin Rings. Sorry for the mistake. But I took a pic (below) to show you anyway. However... I DID get Acorn Table ornaments. Kathleen you might have seen them. They had several finishes. They are Resin and they had three different finishes. Woodlike/Silverleaf/Goldleaf. I purchased The Goldleaf ones and in Cape Cod, this Summer I bought the Woodlike ones and one with a Squirrel sitting ontop.

Here's the Squirrel w/acorns - I highlighted them with Goldleaf Paint, but I think I put too much. I'm going to tone them down some.

Here are the Goldtone ones next to the others..this is the finish they came in.

Now, here are the 'Pinecone' Napkin Rings.. I paid $.50 ea.

So, Kathleen..did you see any of these things at your CTS?

I know each store has something different..like your 'Witch Hats' that I didn't see.

That's okay Jane, the pincone rings are great and they sure go well with your dinner plate design don't they? Love all the acorns especially the one with the little squirrel. Thanks for sharing the pics of them. Luvs

Oh gosh, Jane, those pinecone table ornaments are wonderful!!! You found them at a CTS? Darn, darn, darn . . . I wish we had one out here! You all find such great things at those stores. The closest we have to them are our Hobby Lobby stores. Anyhoo, congrats on the great finds! I'm pea green with envy.

That's so funny! That time I thought you were just being silly! Good news at the dentist always makes for a better day! Yay! Lisa - I'm so sorry that I've been remiss in taking time to post on the board that I received my prize package from you. I sent you an e-mail when it arrived on Monday. I hope you received it. To everyone else - Lisa sent me the nicest box of prizes from last month's games. For some game when I was the next person to post (it seems like we were waiting for Tracy to materialize but I don't remember why) she sent me some nice gloves and plant markers. For finding that tiny Christmas tree, thereby putting an end to her 'I Spy' game, she sent me a plant off of my want list. She chose to give me Phlox 'Orange Perfection'. I was very excited to get this, as I've never seen it in my area. And, just because she's so sweet, Lisa sent me another start from Larry's iris collection! I'm a lucky girl!

There truly are a lot of seeds here, and this is only half. It's still two weeks until the Dec.15 mailing deadline. Now that Thanksgiving is over, I can spread out upstairs and start dropping seeds in everyone's bags. That is the fun part. Then comes the more challenging part: deciding what to put in the bags of those who did not receive as much as they sent. I hope everyone had an enjoyable holiday and is ready to tackle the Christmas season. I've tossed a couple of Christmas pillows on the sofa, and that may be all the decorating I do. With six in and out cats, including three young ones, not many decorations can survive their curiosity and rambunctiousness. One year I bought silk balls that would not break. They do ravel, however, and strings of white silk were all over the house. The cats had a great time, and the mess was not too difficult to clean up.

Grabbed the camera and it needs new batteries. (I don't like how often my Canon Power Shot sx150 needs new batteries.) Finally! A mama turkey and 10 chicks about the size of morning doves. They stayed in one spot for quite some time then started to stroll along. Mama found something in the tall weeds that must have been yummy. Several chicks ran over. We also had two male cardinals this morning. A very unusual sight for us but my husband was looking out the window at the right time. I usually hear the whip-poor-will around 4:15am. Not this morning though when my husband was also awake too early and would have liked to have heard it. There's a hummingbird around but I have just planted Scarlet Runner beans on a trellis next to our favorite viewing window. I wonder how much food is out there for him.

I was also thinking about this thread after hearing the the News Quiz on Wait, Wait, Don't Tell Me. One of the items on the News Quiz asked something to the effect of "This influential individual died 50 years ago this week", of course Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. was the correct answer, but my objection was to the usage of "died". Yes, he died, but more importantly, he was murdered, nay, assassinated, and their use of "died" sounded beyond non-optimal, it sounded WRONG. This thread remains very thought provoking, and I appreciate everyone's musings.

I know, Lynn. Doesn't it make you want to cry with frustration? I want the beautiful white pumpkin soup bowls they found last year SOOOO BADLY!!

I'm telling you, Girl. Those pinecone napkin rings would be the 'Cherry On Top' with your pinecone plates, wouldn't they?

Lynn... I'd be happy to pick them up for you..I hope they still have them too. I'm going to stop by there this weekend on my way home from the Flea Mrkt, and I'll check to see.
