Zep, thank you for helping. Just before I read your last post I went to the Adobe forum and other people were having the same problems tonight. Someone had already posted links using a 32 bit download so I tried that and it worked and the regular Shockwave Plug in showed up on my plug in page as enabled. I don't know what 32 bit or 64 bit means or even if I need the 64 bit but I will see if this works. You helped me a few years ago with a computer problem I had so thank you again. Anne

DA, watch that thinking while eating lunch...it's bad for the digestion! However it is much appreciated. Below are the answers to your questions. 1. Have you tried FF bare boned with not add-ons to see if this occurs? Ans. Yes 2. Have you tried a prior version of FF? Ans, Yes, just a few minutes ago. I un-installed ver 11.0 and installed the older 10.0.2 in it's place. I also un-installed Flash Player and re-installed that again. ...still the same results after shutting down and re-starting! 3. Do you have FF set to delete history when closing? Ans, No. Thanks, Horton.

First guess: Are you installing the correct version; I.E. vs. Non-I.E.? If you are doing a "run-install" you absolutely have to be downloading the proper version. If you are doing a "save-install" you can use any browser to download-save-install either version, but it will only effect the target browser.. In my case I have FF, Opera, Google, SlimBrowser and I.E.9 installed on the system so I have both versions of Flash installed. Use the tool below to uninstall whatever you currently have installed. Then be triple sure you install the correct one. DA Here is a link that might be useful: Flash Uninstaller

Thanks for the responses ! mikie -- Thanks for the links ! I uninstalled, restarted and then installed both versions you linked to. (I also have Comodo Dragon [Chrome] on my computer but rarely use it. We'll see if I still get some sort of error that that browser needs an AFP update.) Btw, when installing for FF I had to close the browser. When installing for IE I was not told to close the browser. Not being an IE user, I don't know if that is a big deal or not. But everything went smoothly. Thanks, mikie ! azinoh -- There are two user accounts on this computer. Mine is not THE admin account, but it does have administrator authority when necessary. I did the update for each browser as you suggested and used mikie's links. :-) esteban -- Although in most cases I do things the way owbist describes above, this time I used the Snipping Tool that comes with Windows 7. I saved the pic to my desktop and clicked "Browse" (next to "Image file to upload" above the composition area). Piece of cake. (Or pumpkin pie, if you prefer.) :-) I have not rebooted since doing these installations, but as far as I can tell my situation is resolved. Thanks for the help! :-)
