New...Fisher & Paykel french door refrigerator

Hi everyone.I was recently on the F&P website (Australia)and it was advertising the new french door refrigerator with an ice maker, water in the door and pull out shelves in the drawer freezer. It also seemed to be bigger than the ones sold in the US but it was in mml instead of cu ft so I can't be sure. I haven't heard back from F&P yet as to when or if this model will be available in the US. You are all so knowledgeable on this forum, maybe you've seen the appliance somewhere or know more info than was available on the website. Thanks in advance for you help.

The measurements are approximately 70 in. high x 35 1/2 in. wide x 28 in deep. Hope this helps.

The Fisher and Paykel french door refrig is good buy at around $2,400. It has nice styling and has a bottle rack in the middle of the refrigerator. The shelves are fixed; and it is 70 1/2" in height and is counter depth which I feel makes a big impact on the over all kitchen look. I myself purchased a duel freezer french door; the LG LMX2198ST and am impress by the look of it. I like the counter-depth and you have to get use to the shallow depth of the freezer doors but I can live with it! Overall, I am very please with it! You can buy the Fisher and Paykel at Lowes and get 10% off! I don't know if it still in affect.

I'm guessing that we have the same unit, based upon your description. I have had several conversations with FP regarding the icemakers low output. I have been told that the icemaker will produce about 18 cubes a day...way too few when someone in he house drinks iced beverages daily (like me!). It is a family joke now and our regular guests automatically bring a bag of ice when we are entertaining. : ( We also had ongoing service issues and various error codes kept my local serviceman busy for the first year that we had our refridgerator. Fortunately, those seem to have been resolved and we have been sailing smooth. In hindsight, I would have returned this refridgerator and chosen a different one had I known the issues. And now that I am ready to choose the rest of my new appliances, I will not consider FP products based upon this units service record. Too bad for them. Hope this helps in some way! Sandy

Hi orangkitchenbgone, Sorry to say but I was extremely disappointed when I checked out the back of that box. Their pdf info states that depth including door was 23+, which had me excited about the prospect of a built in looking unit under 72" high. I went to Pacific Sales, pulled the unit out to check the back and was dismayed to see a FULL WIDTH ~1 inch deep box at the very bottom of the unit, roughly 6-12 " high or so ( I cant remember the height since I was so angry). This box was exactly where I'd have the line for water and recessed electrical. Also, the Mfr. wants a ridiculous amount of airspace on all sides. From the box to the gasket was over 24 1/2", about 1" more than most (23 5/8 ave) and the door added another 4 inches or so. For me, every inch counts when I want a CD unit...

Glad it helped. I just remembered the conversion factor of 0.03937. Take that and multiply by mm to get inches. 1 inch =25.4mm. By the way, there are numerous web sites that have conversion tables for just about anything. Also, the picture F&P shows of that refrig does make it look BIG.

If you look at the specs, it lists the fridge volume as 433 liters which is equal to 15.3 cubic feet. The freezer volume is 181 L = 6.4 cubic feet. Hope that helps!

I knew there were very knowledgable people on this site. I am in the process of gaining knowledge so maybe one day I too can answer someone's questions. For now, I just seem to keep asking them. Thanks.

Hi everyone
If anyone is interested, I spoke with a representive from F&P today about the new FD refrigerator (apparently her 3rd call today about this model). It is not available in the US yet. She thought a store rep may know more about when it should be released here---"maybe the end of the year".
Should I wait for the new model ("a very nice refrigerator" as per the F&P rep) or keep searching? This kitchen will never be done if I keep waiting for the next model to arrive. Thanks again to all who helped with my limited math skills.

The message I got back from the US website for F&P said the new refrigerator should be here "early" 2008.

Yea our F & P people are telling us its in final prep for the US market, which typically translates into 6-9 months from now(all our little rules and such) They have told us it will compete with the Jenn-air/Kitchenaid and such and run somewhere in that price range $2k - $2.5K
