Sunday Night Fall Table..

I am getting inspired by all of you doing your fall decos. I hadn't pulled much out,so I broguht some up and did a little table for our dinner tonight...

The little acorn bowls are from Pfaltzgraff, last year in off season, as well as the napkins. The napkin rings are from Villeroy and Boch, again off season so a very good deal on something I wouldn't usually buy because of the high price.

The plates are Dollar Tree and mats TJMaxx...

Dinner was oven baked pork chops with baked apple slices, roasted potatoes and in the acorn is baked spaghetti squash..

I can't remember the cartoon lady's name, Chloe, but we have a Christmas ornament of her with lights wrapped around her body. The first one is my favorite. "Bite me size", lol. And the two peas in their respective pods made me giggle again. I'll work on keeping my hairy chinny, chin, chin a little higher. It was a tough weekend and the week ahead will be long, full, and all I'm really looking forward to is bedtime on Friday night. How pathetic is that? (maybe my much needed haircut on Friday afternoon will prove a boost, too). Michelle, your arrangement is just lovely. I have a particular fondness for cattails, and always want to pick them early on... but don't really know how to collect them to prevent the seasonal, fuzzy explosion... what's your secret? The annual take-downs are arriving in the shop for cleaning and mending. I'm fine with the mending part of it, but I so loathe the cleaning. It's hard on my hands/wrists and it's so terribly boring. I have a solid month of it ahead of me, I reckon. More rote, and while it's not what I need on an emotional plane, it's does rather pay the bills handily! More sucking up is order, I fear. :/ The book sounds fine... assign it and I'll go for it. I'm thinking a diversion of any sort might just be a very good thing for me about now! Now it's time for me to tend to the dishes in the kitchen. And clean up the broken wine stem that belonged to my grandmother. Now only two are left... out of 10. My irritation at "frat. house carelessness" will subside, but today I didn't need to see one more pretty, "fun" thing broken. Maybe I should simpy accept it and use DixieCups? What is it Taryn says, "calm, blue ocean... "? I need more tassels, methinks. ;)

Don't mean to butt in but I was just lurking around and reading this because we (North Texas) had pretty cold weather this weekend too. And I read kentstar's comment about being discouraged and I just had to share this story. The very first flowers I planted on my apartment patio were two pink gerber daisies that I loving picked out, having had my heart set on them months in advance. I took them home, put them in their little planter, and they looked so cute! I loved them and nurtured them. And then almost all at once every single one of the five total blooms completely shriveled up, turned brown, and died. I was SO devastated, and pretty mad frankly, so I turned my attention to my new Hydrangea which is my baby. And then one of the clusters up and died the day after I brought that home! I will tell you, I literally cried. I remember wailing to my husband, "I HAVE A BLACK THUMB! I'LL NEVER GARDEN AGAIN!" I couldn't understand how I could pour so much love into something only to have it inexplicably die. Then almost on the same day, something wonderful happened! I was looking at my flower-less daisies, looking more like heads of lettuce than anything and LO AND BEHOLD there were new, beautiful looking leaves growing! And the next day, BUDS! Not to mention there's a whole new shoot coming out of my hydrangeas! Now the buds on the daisies are growing stems, the green hydrangeas are blooming a beautiful pink, and here is the miracle of all miracles: after trying twice to sprout strawberries unsucessfully, I was just about to give up when I went to mist the little guys and BAM. The tiniest little sprout you will ever see. And then another! I was elated. SO I guess what I'm trying to say is yes, other gardeners get discouraged. Very much so. To the point of tears! But I think the rewards are well worth the risks :)

So I made some of you start feeling a little guilty, huh? I couldn't be happier if that's what it's going to take to see more tables, decorations and vignettes.LOL Jane, glad you like the mirror and it is fun to photograph. I think I will be looking for some more to play with on my tables. Dream, I hope you will start pulling out the fall decorations. I always enjoy seeing what you create. OA, one would think with the little forks that we had shrimp but we seldom use the tables I set.LOL I got the forks and napkin holders at a ys last year. The little dishes on the plates are heavy but do have a nice design from above now that you mention it. Thanks J, I want to come and see you and enjoy the sun with you. We haven't been seeing much of that lately. If it was 90 here, I wouldn't be thinking fall either, I'm sure. Some have lost their gardens to frost already. Candy, your weather sounds like ours right now. I think you are thinking fall with your darling scarecrow place card holders you just made. They are the cutest. Lynn, thanks and to funny that you bought the same dishes. Did you buy the brown or the ones with the pink flowers? Mine have the pink flowers on them. Jane, which set of plates did you buy? I bought a set of four salad and four dinner plates. It will be so fun to have different tables with the same dinnerware. Hope I have time to get creative.LOL Luvs, I have bought alot of different tablecloths since I started doing tables. I want to start buying more with patterns after seeing the more colorful ones posted on here. You have taken me to a whole new world by getting me hooked here and I like it!!! Thanks Yachter, the centerpiece had the ivory roses and green hydrangeas when I bought it. After I discovered I didn't have chili peppers to add to my table, I added the orange nasturtiums to help blend my table. So glad ot worked and my table brightened your day. After all your fun in the sun, I can understand you not wanting to think blah colors... I actually love all the fall colors but not the cold. I hope you wear your flip flops this winter if you can keep from freezin' your little toes off.haha I have given up on capri and short season but if it hits 70 again, you can bet your little bippy, I'll be back in them for the day. Jeanne, I too love fall and your Dishes. The dishes I used on my table are Essential Home. They get hot in the microwave so we don't use them much. Thanks everyone for all your sweet comments. I'm loving all these fall dishes, might have to invest in some for next year I guess. Everything goes so well together, just looks perfect. Love the napkins and napkin rings too--good finds. Luvs

Kathleen, the colours of your dishes and accessories go so well together and look totally "fall". Your napkins have a nice variety of colours in them. Love the little acorn bowls, they are so cute. Food even has a fall theme to it and looks yummy as always.

Those acorn bowls are wonderful. And your table looks great. I love the Fall colors (me who never liked orange that much, till I discovered Fall decorating, thanks to some folks who shall remain nameless. You know who you are!!)

And I have to agree with Kareen, you ARE amazing!

Ooooooo. Comfort food with a fall flair! I think the napkins are what gives it zing. (I could have said, "makes it pop," but I didn't want to give away the fact that I'm addicted to HGTV.)

Thanks, ladies! Yes, the napkins have a lot of colors in them. I think they were marked down to a dollar in the clearance at Pfaltzgraff, originally 5. It's all about off season shopping, then remembering to put them in the fall bin!!

Karen, I agree. Orange is not for me, maybe the 70's still haunt me! But for Fall, and Halloween, yes!

Luvs, yes, get yourself a few at the Dollar Tree. They aren't bad for a dollar. I got four and four soup bowls.
Sandi said she saw some plaid place mats there, I didn't though.

Kathleen - I love your fall table. Usually I don't care much for orange but in combination with the other fall colors and for Hallween it works. All the colors on your table looks really warm and I just adore those acorn bowls.
Now have you decided when you are coming to my house to cook????? LOL

Jay, I usually buy a boneless loin of pork when they are on sale. It is very economical, roasts, chops, cutlets...a real budget stretcher...(then you can buy more dishes, LOL...)
Anyway, I cut the pork, pound it out. Dip in milk, then Italian bread crumbs. Spray a baking pan and bake. While that is baking, put some sliced apples on a pan with some cinnamon and sugar or brown sugar, dot with butter and bake...That's it,,easy! The potatoes are scrubbed, sliced in half, tossed in salt and pepper and a bit of olive oil. Again, spray a pan and put cut side down..they will get a nice brown crust....so everything is baking at the same time...although put the potatoes in first ( or microwave them a bit first before baking), as the chops don't take as long.

Kathleen, great table, I love those lidded acorns (you probably know I am crazy for anything with a lid LOL). The colors are really nice too, that is what I love about Fall color, they are just so warm and welcoming.

Neesie, just do it, it is fun..I have always liked doing tables, but never realized there was a whole support, er,read enable, group here till 2 yrs ago.

Judith, I knew you would like those bowls. Now with Pfaltz closing all the stores, I will have to see if I can snatch a few more..

Do you know I was never in a Dollar store till I found this forum?? Oh, I had my little closeout places I visited, but never a Dollar store, or as they are now called MANY dollars stores!
