Help with floor tile pattern needed

I'm trying to figure out a good pattern - I want to use square white 4.25" which are pretty inexpensive and 2x2" blues as accents. The 2x2's are pretty expensive, so I'd like to use them sparingly.

Anybody have a photo or an idea of how to do this?

Try cutting the corner of 4 of the white tiles to create a diamond shape when you put the 4 together. Now place the 2x2 in that space. Do this every so often in your pattern until you reach the amount of 2x2's you want to use.

If you are set on small squares, try a laying them on a diagonal.

Get some graph paper, draw the footprint of the room to scale, then try out different placements of your accents.

Is it too late? I love the yellow squares inside the white border. It gives great interest to the floor, versus the same old same old. I think it makes your hallway seem much bigger, and more up-to-date. I think I'll steal that design idea!

Avanti has a point. if you can adjust framing is always best or layed out in advance and committed! here, you can see a good inch on top/bottom? that will get padded with more usg foam and end up "Just right" on the grout line with youre niche and tile in hand and walls plum avantis way is a safer way to go .- best

Help with floor tile for herringbone pattern in master bath

I think a lot of people use larger tiles (e.g., 12 x 24) cut down for herringbone. That said, I'm going for the same effect, and I found this one: https://www.flooranddecor.com/porcelain-tile/dimarmi-bianco-stone-look-porcelain-tile-100434638.html I didn't want real marble because this will be the laundry/mudroom that the dog will run through when she comes in the doggie door. What about doing something similar to this, only using the white 4 1/4's set square, and then using the blue tiles where in the picture, you see the black ones, inset as barrybud described, and shown in the backsplash below?
