Comments (27)Here's a picture of my Miele induction cooktop: You can see that it is a really shallow cooktop so that you can fit a regular bank of drawers (or an oven) underneath. And that was one of the main selling features for me. I ordered mine already a year ago. At the time the available options here were rather limited and did not include the Thermador. I did see it for the first time a couple of weeks ago for the same price as the Miele (Cdn$ 4000). Personally, I prefer a model of a European manufacturer that has a few decades of experience with induction. Thus, I also had a very close look at the AEG model. It was $400 cheaper than the Miele but didn't come with the extra cookware (which retails at $800). And no, I did not look at any imports as my contractor refused to install one of those. I would have gotten a very nice Neff model for 1/3 of the price of the Miele otherwise ... Well, and then there is a small personal bias: my cousin works as an electrical engineer in the Miele R&D department at the Guetersloh headquarters :-)...See MoreDouble oven and induction cooktop. Comments (0)I'm getting ready to buy a double wall oven and an induction cooktop. I'm leaning toward GE but am willing to consider other brands. 27" Double Oven (Convection preferred in at least one oven)-Due to space I can't go with a 30". I'm considering the GE PK956BMBB, Induction Cooktop-I'm looking at the GE 36" model-PHP960DMBB. Any known issues with these choices or other makes/models I should consider? Thanks for having a great forum! Thanks...See MoreWall Oven & Induction Cooktop Advice
Comments (4)I very much like my wolf induction . I went Miele for my ovens. I suggest you try out the cooktops and see which control sequence you like the best (all 3 will be different) and which top has the features important to you. Both Bosch and Wolf make a great cooktop. Did not look at GE so cannot comment there. There are several threads with reviews about Bosch and Wolf induction....See MoreSeeking Advice: Installing Induction Cooktop on Oven Base Cabinet
Comments (18)I think - but am not certain - that what the OP is wanting to do is: (1) remove the OTR MW and replace it with a hood, and (2) replace an existing range with a separate cooktop and wall oven underneath, but that wall oven would be a speed oven. A speed oven - depending on the model and its features - can microwave, convection bake, broil, some can also steam. I'll post a photo of the 24" Bosch speed oven ($2,000). Having said that, I too think this arrangement will cost a lot and require a lot of figuring out of space tolerances, heat tolerances, plus a new counter insertion. What is your budget for this project? I think you should instead get an induction range and be done - then there'd be no need for new counter and new oven cabinet. You can find a spot for a small inexpensive countertop microwave somewhere. What you are wanting to do I think will be difficult and costly, and require coordination of countertop fabricator, appliance installation, base cabinet purchase and installation, likely electrical work too....See Moredavidro1
