Yeah, varieties have frequently fallen victims to the shameless manipulations of seed vendors that could care less about keeping uniformity and in some circumstances have "created" variety "exclusives" for marketing purposes and accidentally or purposefully added to the confusion, or have a cash cow variety and breed into it some additional traits but still refer to it as the old name to capitalize on its following under the guise of being "improved" (when they may have messed up the parents in some cases too lol). In the case of 'Goliath' it appears extreme: this name does not refer to a single strain, variety or whatever description we get thrown at us to make a sale. It seems like it is a "series" of "strains" leveraged off the name of a tomato that may once have been known as a hybrid tomato variety named 'Goliath', itself an early maturing derivative of the popular 'Big Beef' hybrid that has great production and was developed by a friend at Petoseed in the years before the Mexican buyout. Check out the 2017 catalog of Seeds and Such: Catalog link. In there, J. Wayne Hilton's discusses the Goliath hybrid which suggest to me it was possibly a European adaptation from the parentage of Big Beef, he says: “When I founded the company ‘Totally Tomatoes’ in 1993 ... and in 1995 I introduced Goliath (Indeterminate, 65 days), a European version of Big Beef, with gorgeous, blemish-free, bright red fruits, weighing 10-15 ounces and endowed with a perfect balance of acids and sugars to give it that old-timey, real-tomato flavor. After I sold Totally Tomatoes in 1999, the new owners changed Goliath to the “Pio” strain to gain even more productivity. But the ‘Pio’ strain of Goliath is not as round and uniform as the previous strain I first introduced. The current strain ‘Pio’ [DTM 70] further refines the original Goliath to add more productivity, better disease resistance and greater adaptability ..." Hilton also lists the 'old fashioned' Goliath 'Beef Maestro' variety [78 DTM], the Goliath 'Jubilation' yellow one [70 DTM] you probably got, and then the Goliath 'Boy-O-Boy' strain [75 DTM], which all seem to be newer additions to the "Goliath series". To be honest, it sounds like a bunch of gobbledygook to me and between that an Totally Tomatoes listing 'Pio' as the original 65 DTM, I would run away from that. But if you really must find out, email Hilton at the address given in the catalog as he is the one who probably knows best what is going on if he chooses to kindly share it with you. Add to that that there is an open pollinated variety 'Goliath' you can get from TGS claimed to be an unrelated 1800's Pennsylvania pink OP heirloom at this link: Goliath 85 DTM pink 'heirloom' and there is a Bush Goliath and an open pollinated version of that one, as well as an open pollinated version of one of the Goliath hybrids from Marianna's called Goliath Red: Marianna's link to 75 DTM OP Goliath derived from some Goliath F1 of Big Beef parentage. I hope this helps you not lose the farm. Personally, I would go for Big Beef F1 (73 DTM) and not touch that Goliath of a mess with a ten foot pole. I know some people get a hankering for a variety name, but as you can see, varieties come and go and between falling from use, bogus marketing, and those who really care, it is sometimes like being stranded on a rowboat in the middle of the ocean, springing leaks to keep track of what is going on. If you think you know, it might just be a $5 name and an illusion to go with it. Best of luck I understand your frustration. Cheers PC

Oops, missed milos mom..thank you. White mums show up here all year long...so easy to make fit any occasion! I don't remember where I got those napkins..I know they were a bargain! I have those, and then a set with a little more green in the plaid and a fringed edge. I love plaid.. I just bought some navy blue plaid fabric, a remnant I get at this fabric warehouse..very good quality fabric from Portugal...It was the last on the roll, so he charged me ONE dollar. I have some navy plates, so I thought in the duldrums of winter I would do a table with it. OA if it makes you feel any better, I only have 2 of those plates, and they are an odd shape, kind of oval.. I have black soup bowls and mugs in a matte finish I got at the Pfaltzgraff clearance center before they closed. I think I paid .46 cents each for them..:) I have 12 of the shiny ones..but I don't like those as much.. And I found some BLACK chargers at Cmas Tree Shops, so I am anxious to try something with those..Maybe with those black and white courtly check plates.. Thanks Jeanne and Jane too! You are all very sweet!

since it has a registry cleaner I would stay away. I happened to find this info on a Forbes article "Iolo System Mechanic 7 is the biggest piece of junk I've encountered in my multi-decade history as a computer nerd. Iolo (a Los Angeles-based, privately held company) admits to some problems, and claims they're all fixed. But consider this tale carefully before you buy the software yourself." I know it is an older version but I think it does not bode well for the product. and from zep's link this is the kind of thing I worry about with those kinds of programs especially those with aggressive registry cleaners. Quote "You can run so many consecutive and powerful PC utilities that their combined effect might "over-clean" your system and leave applications -- or the PC -- running improperly. "

I heard back from Sansone today with their load calculation. They are saying my total cooling BTU requirement is calculated at 22,984 BTU; but my sensible requirement is 20,394 BTU. A 2-speed 2 ton unit will not provide enough sensible BTUs (around 16K); and a 3 ton will be too much (around 25K) which is over the +15% max parameter. So based on this, that is why they are saying I need a 2.5 ton unit to be sized correctly. The ONLY one they stock is the CA16NA030 (builder model) with the FV4-002 would be priced around $4000. For them to order the 24ABC630 is $600 extra and the 24ACC630 is $1000 extra, saying that it is not recommend. They also said 'for as much as we'd like to sell you a more expensive 2-stage system, your sensible BTU will be under at the 2 ton and over at the 3 ton'. Later today I had another dealer come out (Island Air). I didn't show them the cooling figures I got from Sansone. This other dealer (which is also rated high on Angie's List) said that they could get me the 24ABC630 with FV4-002 for the same $4000 price that Sansone wants for the builder's CA16 model, and the 24ACC630 is $300 more. Then they said as far as a 2 stage 24ACB736 + FV4-002, that I would need the 3 ton, as it would operate at the lower stage (2.5 ton) most of the time and only go to the higher 3 ton stage some in the summer, but only for a short period. It's price at $4600 (same as Sansone, but Sansone says its not the right size). Also, the 5-stage 24AVA936 + FE4-002 would also be at the 3 ton, but with since it has 5 stages, would step down to 2.5, 2, 1.5, 1 ton depending on what is needed. Their pricing it was $5800, again same as Sansone. So at this point I'm not sure which system or dealer to go with.... Sansone (that did the Load Cal) is saying I need 20,394 Sensible BTUs, and the only way to get that is with a 2.5 ton. But the only one they stock is the CA16 builders that I don't want, and their prices for the 24ACC/ABC are way too much. The other dealer (Island Air) doesn't sell the CA16, and the price for their 24ACC/ABC is better than Sansone. But they are also saying that I would be fine with the 2-stage 24ACB736, 24ANB136, or 5-stage 24VNA936, since they would be operating at the lower stage most of time, but at least offer extra cooling BTUs at the higher stage when needed.
