Henry, I read that study and the findings and it suggests that the manner of application if done improperly leads to problems due to the fact that the product penetrates the skin. Let us say for the sake of argument you do everything "correctly" and apply without skin penetration, what about the residues and product that do not break down or wash off the the veggie or the corn or soy? I understand from what I read that round up resistant GMO's were developed to allow farmers to use even more of the glyophosate so it follows that if it persists in the soil and environment and on the vegatative material in greater amounts. Okay, so now in the GMO situation they use even more of it...the studies I have read that come from different sources seems to suggest that glyophosate does not break down in soil as believed and if it is turning up in breast milk doesn't that mean we are digesting it? and that it is persistant in the environment? I am not singling out any of the particular ingredients but it may just be what is in the formulation. (I have a link from an Autism site regarding the persistance of pesticides and herbicides in humans, breast milk and umbilical cords etc... one of these studies listed my neighbor's mother in Seattle was involved with in San Francisco due to the prevalence of breast cancer in the area. - her mom died and they linked the levels of breast cancer to mercury from fish, and pesticides.) Wouldn't this support what the French research suggests? It is not just the application but the actual ingestion via skin penetration or the food? My friend whose child has autism says that there are so many controversies regarding this issue it is hard to single out one single cause except that it appears to be an environmental related issue and possibly a gene connection where some individuals are more sensitive to pesticides and how they penetrate cells. Unfortunately it is too late for her child. For the most part I have not seen most people use gloves to use pesticides, in the cases in Argentina it was "arial spraying, and "combinations" of deadly pesticides with the glyphosate where the birth defects and cancer were turning up. I poisoned myself in my 20's when I did not use gloves, and did not understand the significance of the label and the warnings. Most people are not educated about these labels, in fact I was told that "round up was perfectly safe" by the garden center that sold it to me. It is all so disturbing. I am going to interview the organic farmer I met and ask him about his process. He was very clear that he went organic because "it was the right thing to do, and teased his friend, the other farmer about not being a moral person...in jest...Farmers, especially small family farms live in a different world than the home, or urban gardener. If we the consumers are misled it is easy to see how farmers would be misled as well.

I got a new hard-drive and more RAM in my laptop. At the same time, it was upgraded to Win10. I use Opera and Google. I would use the Edge, except that it's not compatible with AdBlockPlus. I wouldn't be without ABP. I'm trying to upgrade the desktops to Win10. It took a couple of hours to (we thought) install on hubby's computer, but when it was done, it was still on Win7. So I don't know what it was doing all that time. We'd check on it, and it was installing (85% done, etc). I'm going to do it on my desktop to see if I have any problems. He did it from Microsoft's site, so I don't know why it didn't install.

We had a bad Airbnb experience last summer and despite previous excellent experiences,mI'm reluctant to use them again now. My parents were visiting when we lived in CA and our house there was small, so I found an Airbnb a few blocks from us. None of the airbnbs near us had more than about five to seven reviews. First one I chose, the owner agreed to rent to us about two months before their visit then backed out about two weeks before they came. Second one had just one bathroom and the toilet clogged the first time my dad used it. My eighty year old mother managed to shut it off. They couldn't get it unclogged so they called me. I called the owner who was very unhelpful. I tried for an hour to fix the toilet, all the while keeping the owner up to date. He authorized us to use some old towels to clean the bathroom floor. The owner continually refused to take any action to fix the toilet. Eventually I told the owner I was taking my parents to my home for the night because the house wasn't inhabitable with no working toilet. I asked him to notify me when he was able to get the toilet working. He demanded that I wash the old towels we had used even though the washer and dryer in the Airbnb house were in a locked off part of the house. So I took them to my house and washed them in my machines. He notified me that the toilet was working but at that point it was ten o'clock after a long day and my parents had gone to bed in my bedroom. When I asked for a refund for that night, the owner was very very nasty in response. So I asked him to not contact me again (and blocked his number in my phine--he was that nasty) and appealed to Airbnb. They opened a case, but did nothing until I contacted AmEx and asked for them to reverse the charges for that night. At that point, Airbnb refunded the money. If this had been a hotel, they would have just moved my parents to another room or sent maintenance to fix the problem. With Airbnb there really weren't any good remedies. If I had not lived in town, my parents would have had to either stay with no toilet overnight or scramble to find a hotel room and pay for it. After that, I feel like there's a potential to end up in an uninhabitable house with few good options. So I haven't done Airbnb again. I'm not saying I wouldn't, but I'd think carefully about how likely the owner was to take care of any problems and what my options would be if he or she didn't.
