printer problems

I have a HP deskjet F340 all in one printer. All of a sudden it won't print. It will still scan, copy & print the copy. I wonder if I uninstall & reinstall it if that will fix it? If I have to buy a new one I doubt I can get this model again & I have several new container of ink I just bought. It will be my luck they wouldn't work on the new one.

It is always something LOL

1 See if you can print from the file menu or by pressing ctrl+p on the key board.

2 Try un plugging the printer from the computer the usb cable not the electric plug, then reboot the pc and reconnect the printer, these are some things you can try.

Try to Print a test page:

Press and hold the Cancel ( +) button and then press the Start Copy Color button.

I think the back to front or front to back is not the problem. I wouldn't care what prints first since I don't do much text printing.........The problem is HOW to not print the sample label in PayPal. I had to buy 2 shipping labels today. It did it again, twice, including that 3rd print page with the upper instructions on how to print the label. I've looked through the options, but it is not going to tell me how not to do Sample label printing. I removed the printer and added it again and it works great only it didn't solve the label problem. I have also googled for a fix, but no one seems to have run into this problem. I have had this printer for a long time. I bought it with my XP and now I have W 7. AM I READY FOR A NEW ONE?

Nothing in the print queue. Checked out HP Solutions. Everything is updated. I've rebooted several times. I do have the disk, but hope to not have to do that. Those were all good ideas. I went back to the manual and looked through the index, and sure enough, there it was: "delete faxes from memory." Even though I haven't sent any faxes I followed the directions and, voilÃÂ Ã¯Â¿Â½, it prints! But I still hear that noise that I thought was a paper jam. No jam, front or back. I went back to HP Solutions and kept hunting until I found a neat little video that shows how to open the Control Panel to look for a jam there. I tried and it seems like it will take a real hard tug; it doesn't just come open. Now what, should I pull hard on it and hope it opens? Sue

Good suggestions have been given. Another thing to check is the device manager for conflicts and also check the contacts on the printer and the cartridges. A cotton swab and some isopropyl alcohol will clean them. If there's a film on them and not making a good electrical contact, it'll cause problems and tell the printer there's no cartridge or a bad cartridge in there. Also you can try resetting the cartridge and put it back in. Make sure they're seated firmly, usually there will be a "snap" or a lever to close on them, but I'm guessing you probably checked that. Will it do a test print? What kind of printer? Check the cable connection to the printer, assuming it's connected by a cable. If it's a wireless connection that can open up another can of worms.

If all else fails, unplug and reinstall the software and then reconnect everything.

Dar,

For whatever reason HP has made it a bit difficult to uninstall and reinstall their printers. They seem to be regularly requiring a process more than what we would assume. I would like to refer you to your written materials that came with the printer particularly the installation instructions; usually the two foot square multi colored, multi-folded brochure.

If that document is not available or incomplete you might wish to refer to the below link as a portal to acting on your printer.

Just letting U know the printer is now printing OK.
I turned off everything then unplugged it from the computer..plugged it back in & it is fine. BTW it did print the test page before it was fixed..

I'm home now and a thought occurred to me. Did you have the printer plugged into a power bar, suppressor or an extension cord?

My HP 5650 had a reoccurring concern with no printing when it was under warranty. If I unplugged the printer electricity and plugged it in again it would act normal. HP even sent me a new power supply, but that didn't help.

During another contact with support a tech asked me the above question.

Yes, I did have the unit connected to a power strip/suppressor.

He claimed strip/suppressors were unstable electrically and HP printers were sensative to power fluxuations. He added they should be connected directly into the wall. I honored his suggestion and have not had a concern since.
