KitchenAid Architect Series II KIRS608BSS induction range
Comments (24)I bought this KitchenAid in March of last year. 2 weeks after it was delivered it shut down. Meaning there were no light on the display & it would not come on. We called customer service & they said turning the breaker off & on again would reset the range. We flipped the breaker to reset it & it worked again. Over the next several months, we had to continue to do this as it would just go off. It finally got to where this didn't reset the range & we called to get it repaired. When the repairman arrived & we turned the breaker back on & it worked! (They wanted to charge me the $135.00 service call fee as there wasn't anything wrong with my range) A week later my husband went to use the range & there was a letter "K" showing but the range wouldn't work even after flipping the breaker. The letter "K" did go away though. We again called & a repairman came out. Told us there was no letter "K" code, we must have been mistaken but the oven would not work so he ordered a relay switch saying that was what was wrong. A week later the part came in & they put it on. Oven worked. About 3 weeks later (3 days before Thanksgiving) the whole range would not work so another repairman was sent, parts ordered but we had to cancel Thanksgiving dinner at my house as the range would not be working in time. They did get the parts on & the range worked once again. Then 4 days before Christmas the electronic reading on the range said "Function not supported" when we went to use the oven. They said they couldn't get a repairman out before January 7th. When I told them that was unacceptable, they called a different repairman & again ordered parts but they wouldn't be available before Christmas. I finally found a corporate person & explained everything to him. After he investigated, he said they would replace my range January 2nd. A week later, someone called me saying they were shipping my replacement range & it would arrive end of January. We were now using a Toaster oven to bake. Last week we still hadn't heard when it would arrive so we called & were told it would ship on Wednesday. Yesterday it still didn't come so I called corporate again & was told the ship date was moved out to April..... They did finally offer me a different range but it would be several weeks before arrival. I told them that I am just going to go & buy another range as I need to cook for my family. They finally agreed to refund my money for the defective one after I send them the original receipt but it would take about 4-6 weeks for them to come & get the range & give me my money back. I know this is very long but I thought it might help you with your decision. I would strongly recommend you not purchase this KitchenAid range. It has taken me months of frustration & no way to cook properly to finally get where I am with the company & I am still out $1800.00 for another month or so. I even researched induction ranges before I bought the KitchenAid. Obviously not well enough! By the way, I do love the induction type range. It cooks amazingly well & even. Good luck!...See MoreKitchenAid Oven Self-Cleaning Problems
Comments (45)Well, it looks like I am the newest member of the disgruntled KA wall oven owner club. Ran the self clean cycle on our 1 year old, still under warranty, KA wall oven. 3 hours into the cycle I noticed that there were no indicator lights on the control panel - the oven was dead and the door was locked. I waited a few hours to allow the oven to cool down and followed the web-based procedures to unlock the door but nothing has worked. I've flipped the breaker off, waited several minutes and flipped it back on (did this a few times believing each time that something magical would happen) but the oven is still locked and nothing works. Finally, I called KA/Whirlpool and waited 45 minutes to speak to someone in customer service. After patiently waiting I was finally connected. We spent some time verifying that my oven was still under warranty (with 5 days to spare!) and documenting my problem. Once it was determined that she could not resolve the problem with weasel words I was told that it would be 2 weeks before a repairman could come. When I politely but firmly protested she transferred me to a technical representative who also was unable to resolve my issue but did confirm the 2 week lead time for the service call. I am now in the waiting period with a locked oven door. If anyone has a suggestion as to how to unlock it beyond the breaker on-off trick, I welcome your input. I will continue with chapter 2 once our repairman arrives....See MoreKitchenaide counter-depth refrigerator
Comments (3)That must be very frustrating. I've had my KA CD fridge for 3+ years with no trouble, I hope it's just a fluke and you won't have any more problems. I love mine, it's so quiet. The food in the fridge is cold, and the food in the freezer is frozen. I can't ask for much more than that. The touch pad on my 3 year old Dacor MW went on the fritz earlier this year and I contacted Dacor. I was irritated since my old $150 OTR MW never had any trouble. They replaced it for just the cost of labor! I think that was just a fluke too. I think there will always be an occasional problem with an appliance, and if it doesn't happen to you or me, it happens to someone else (usually someone on the forum!). We just don't hear from the hundreds of thousands of people who are satisfied. Hope it works better this time....See MoreAfter 6 months, it's done!!
Comments (25)Everyone is so kind and generous with your comments! Thank you! No link for the glass accent tiles as I purchased them locally in Anaheim. There is a street that is lined with nothing but tile and granite stores for several miles. You can negotiate and get really great deals on tile compared to standard tile stores. I did see some similar tiles at cooltiles.com, but I've never dealt with them. Or do a search on copper tile? We didn't really plan the 'tray ceiling', it was the left over hole from the 1980's fluorescent lights. We had originally planned to expand the width of the 'tray ceiling' but ran into plumbing from the second story. So we just repaired the drywall after DH finished all the electrical and put up crown molding to dress it up a bit. Glad you like it! Big and long decision to get custom cabinets. I had gotten detailed quotes from about 6 different places, including Lowes (Kraftmaid & Diamond), Buycabinets.com (Kraftmaid) and a couple of other local places with name brand cabinets. It is amazing how the prices varied with the same exact layout (free from Lowes) for the same type of cabinets. DH is a hobby wood worker and volunteered to make the cabinets (he made the office cabinets & family room TV cabinet), but I wanted them in done within my lifetime. We also looked at custom cabinets and SIL recommended her custom cabinet guy. His price was only $1000 more than the lowest quote, but not the most expensive. Since DH is very picky about quality (remember he can make them) we went with the custom cabinets. I was also able to get the exact color stain that I wanted. We were able to purchase extra stain to stain our own molding to match and saved a lot of $$. We are very, very happy with the design, quality and installation!...See MoreCindy
