can i make a wall sconce (x posted)

out of this chandy? the sconces have been discontinued and i need four sconces to go with the two chandy's i bought. wondering if the shaded arms could be removed and a backplate be added to mount to a mirror. what do you think?

I would certainly think that there is some possible way.
Those are the things I love to do to a home to make it unique to you. Are you planning on DIY or having someone else figure it out?

Sounds like a great project! There's a seller on eBay who has those chandies for terrific prices right now. Grab a couple and take a chance. :o) It would definitely be worth trying.

I found a place online that still has the sconces listed for sale, but that doesn't mean they've got them in stock. You know how that goes. LOL

Our Gagg convection oven is stacked under our Combi-steam, and the convection oven gets to 900 degrees (inside) when running the cleaning cycle. The oven vents out at the bottom below the door, nowhere near the Combi, so you should check where the Bluestar oven does. I think all ovens have to be insulated well enough so that they don't combust the surrounding cabinetry. Also, I think most "stacks" actually separate the ovens by at least an inch or two inside the cabinet frame.

In our last house the powder room had about the same sqare feet as yours does, just different dimensions. We had three halogen lights above the mirror and that was plenty of light for everyday use. I don't remember the actual bulb we used as we haven't lived there for almost a year. Just look for sconces that allow a brighter bulb or that use two bulbs in each sconce. I would use the lumen formula davidtay posted above. That will help you decide if the sconces you like will be bright enough. We did have a bathroom fan with a light installed above the toilet. That helped for when I wanted to clean the bathroom, or needed a brighter light for removing slivers, etc. as the bathroom was where we kept our first aid kit, but we could have gotten along fine without it as the light from the vanity fixture was enough for the room.

As it turns out, I had emailed the builder of the deck pictured above (Delta Decks (http://www.deltadecks.com/), a Canadian company), and they were kind enough to email me back last week. The lights pictured are made by In-Lite, and are available in line and low voltage. They are shown above with the optional LED light kit. See http://www.in-lite.com/us/f120_product-type/wall.html They are available for purchase from http://store.deckstoronto.com/ They get quite pricey when you factor in Canada tax, international shipping, and the LED light kits (~$600 USD for three), but it's worth it for me. Hope this helps the next person.

Wow ... that is one ugly light fixture in what looks like a cool, hip, sophisticated apartment! Looks like something you might find in a powder room. I'd remove the fixtures entirely, cap off the electrical wires temporarily and try to hang something (piece of art? textile?) over the mounting bracket. Is that even a possibility?

oh, persnicketydesign i do LOVE you! i've been searching for those single light glass sconces forever. i managed to find a seller with two in stock but i need four. i've never come across the site you posted. how did you find them?
i just placed my order for the four sconces and i really don't know how to thank you enough. it's funny, i've already purchased a four light chandy for $49.99 and the larger, six light for $99.99 on a best offer from ebay seller jakestrading ...so, at $136.81 each they are far more than the larger fixtures! that's fine though. i'd rather have them than not. please, if there's anything i can help you with give a shout out! you made my day, thank you again!

HOORAY!!! I'm so glad you got them! I added that website to my favorites a long time ago. Every so often they have something that I can't find anywhere else. Looks like they came through again. :o)
