LR help; new home for wall sconces?
Comments (14)Hi all, Thanks for your ideas. Les, we tried the piano turned the other way, but as I remember, the keyboard was in the corner, and I didn't like having to walk around the piano, into the corner, to play it. I never thought about having the keyboard face the wall where the sconce is. Would you still angle it? When you enter the room from the front door, you would then see the back of the piano first. I may have to drag some movers over here to try it, but I will definitely think about it. Of course, then one of the wall sconces would need to find another home. I do need to decide what to put on them; I don't have anything bigger than those jars, as a pair. I was actually thinking maybe they could hold a couple of framed prints. Does anyone have a vision here??? It is interesting how one thing leads to another. As I mentioned in my first post, I've never really known how to work with my piano, decor wisel. I love it and do use i often, , but I've never really had things arranged around it very well. Could be the start of another thread...... Thanks all for your help. I may or may not end up using these, but at least with your help I can settle the issue....See MoreDecorating around an ugly rental sconce
Comments (8)I wouldn't hesitate to hang something in front of it, as long as I took the lamp out first. The shade will protect the socket from contact. I'd use some kind of blocking (I'm thinking styrofoam cubes or something similar) so that the artwork sits proud of the wall, rather than resting directly on the sconce, which would be wobbly. It looks like maybe you have a picture rail molding and could hang artwork using a molding hook. If you need more light, use a table or floor lamp....See MoreDecorating around wall sconces
Comments (3)Having everything lined up against the wall is not a good look. Can you put the other furniture somewhere else or do away with it altogether? As mentioned, that huge array of photographs is not a good look. Large canvas, or one large and smaller ones on each side, for the wall, and stacks of books on top of the cabinets, with one or two well-chosen more vertical accents will complete the looks. I would not do shelves or even think of putting all those family photos anywhere....See MoreI am decorating a vacation rental bedroom
Comments (19)it is and sorry for not having it made up as it would have looked lots better. I am not happy with the color but due to some health issues it had to wait. I seen an idea about something behind the area where the lamps are that draws your eye up . They used mirrors but what about something else? Or do you think with different lamps with shades will make a better impact as I have to clean clean clean so dont want too many things that isn't able to be wiped down....See MoreTess Arthur
