Some Fall Decor w/ TS finds

I have quite a few fall decorations, so I will break those pictures up as well.

This is my banister as you enter the front door. The garland was in a bundle w/ another garland and a swag, $2.58 for the whole thing.

The scrollwork pumpkin was a TS find last year, and the outline pumpkin was a TS find a few yrs ago. The grapevine wreath in the outline pumpkin was $1 at ARC this year. I made the gold bow from ribbon bought at HL after the holidays for 90% off.

Gosh Candy, you find the neatest things with your thrifting. "Treasure shopping" as Luvs calls it, and you certainly do find treasures!

Since Karen has been busy this week, and hasn't gotten back here, I will try to help with tipsy pot directions. You need a six foot piece of rebar which can be purchased at Lowe's for around $2.00. You also need pots in graduated sizes, ie: 12 inch, 10 inch, 8 inch, etc. Just pound the rebar into the ground about 18 inches then slide the largest pot onto the rebar through the hole in the bottom of the pot. Fill with potting soil. Now slide the next largest pot onto the rebar, but tip it to the side a bit. (A rock will help support it at the angle until you get the next pot on.) Continue sliding the pots on and alternating the way you angle them then fill them with soil and plants. Vining plants look really good in them. Be careful when watering so that you don't wash all the soil out, and know that they do dry out fairly quickly so you will want to water frequently. (Unless you use Karen's great idea of using silk plants!) If you check on the Garden Junk forum and just type "tipsy pots" into the search box, you will find lots of them. Some have used metal buckets, some plastic pots, some teapots, etc. to make them. The fun part is all the comments from visitors who are amazed at seeing what looks like just pots balanced on top of each other! ;o) Luvs

Karen, You missed your calling, you should have been an interrier designer. You decs are absolutely beautiful. I too love the little squirrels, they look so real. You seem to have the knack for knowing just what to put together. I have taken a terrible head cold today, and just feel lousy, so I hadn't been on my computer until just a little while ago, so I am behind on posts. You said you wished you had my will power about not buying Christmas decs. Believe me, it is not will power, it is already having more than I can possibly use. There was years that I couldn't pass up Christmas decorations, at ys, ts or after Christmas sales. Every year when I start getting things out, I find things that I don't even remember buyung. Durring the month of Nov. my time is usurally spent in the wreath barn (remember, we live in Christmas Tree Country) and I always try to make enough money to do all my Christmas shopping making wreaths. I started doing this yrs ago when my kids were small, and I needed the extra money really badly at Christmas.When they all grew up and moved out, making wreaths had just became such a tradition, that one year I didn't make any and it really didnt seem like Christmas. I usurally make a few hundred wreaths from the last of Oct to the 2nd week in Dec. I gues thats one reson that I never worried much about Halloween or Thanksgiving decorations. I usurally have all my ks and gk here for Thanksgiving Thursday and then right back to the barn an Fri.I really don't know hardly how I am going to do it this year, what with babysitting DGS, but on of my DGDs says she will help me with him. Kathleen, Could you package some of your energy and mail it to me? Your goodies look delicious. What a lucky friend you have and such a labor of love. I just know your friend will be over the moon when she sees the cake. I am heading to CF right now for the apple pie recipe. I love to cook and that forum lead me to this one. Baking might must keep me busy enough so tht I am not looking for and purchasing more dishes. LOL DH is going to scream if anymore dishes enter our home. He's already worried the cabinet in my office is going to come off of the wall from the weight:,). Keep posting, you are an inspiration for those of us who like to cook/bake as well as decorate our tables!

Your railing is quite GORGEOUS & a unique style in itself, too! Love how you've created "Fall" in this vignette...hey, isn't that the same "outline pumpkin" that I got while on vacation...thanks for the leaf wreath idea in it...I like that! Jeanne S.

I have accumulated quite a bit of "stuff" over the years, and I sometimes find things off season, when others wouldn't necessarily want to buy them, but I just put them in the basement.

Jane, I shop TS in several different cities/towns so I have a larger selection from which to choose. You'd need to go to a lot of different stores to bump into me, LOL.

Jeanne, that outline pumpkin has a point in the bottom to hold a candle, but only 1 crossbar, so the candle always wanted to lean. When I found that pretty wreath last week, it fit perfectly into the framework and gives it more presence than just one candle did. I did notice your outline pumpkin in your posting. As Karen has said in the past, we are a lot of kindred spirits on this forum, and therefore seem to have similar tastes!

Looks super, all the fall colors look nice with your neutral decor as a background. I have a hard time finding blending fall decor in my house.

That garland and stair is beautiful!!! All of your goodies make a lovely display It always makes me smile when I discover that someone else has found something that I have! We all do seem to have "like" tastes. Thanks for posting.
