did this just recently start happening? did it work fine say a week ago? If you answer yes then probably the easiest thing for you to do is simply go back in time to a date that it was working fine for you. This is very easy and simple to do. Click start>all programs>accessories>system tools> system restore. Open system restore and choose to go back to a previous date, it will open a calendar that has some dates and times showing when you have restore points saved, select one of those dates and restore points when your IE was working fine and tell it to restore the pc to that restore point, it will tell you to reboot do that and it will then set your pc back to the settings from that time. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/306084 there is some instructions you can copy and paste that into your browser. The other option is download and use firefox browser.

yes it will have a pop up down by the clock, be sure you do not have yours in the hidden icons thing if you do you can move it down onto the bar so you can see it better. Just make sure when you make your choice you pick the one that says notify me do not install or something like that.

Thanks everyone for the best shot and trouble shootin....i have been trying to keep track of whats happening. Here's what I have noticed---Sometimes it just freezes, mouse, keyboard-does not respond to control-alt-delete at that point. Then I push button for off. 2nd-the computer goes off but the blue light is still on and can still hear running, The monitor is blank though. AGain the off button to make it go off... RAn thorough test on drive and ram-still checking out okay. Anything else I may be able to use for further testing??? I check device manager and event log. Only event log has yellow exclamations...I check out the event online but it just brings me to a generic page-then Im lost.... Will keep eye out on this-I think I read somewhere that the video card with same symptoms can cause what it does. I guess I just don't understand. It can stay on for hours and nothing happens... Thanks though for all help you have offered!!!

I turn mine off each night too (or when gone for the day) also shut down when storms are approaching...always unplug phone line & disconnect Dish phone line too. TV, phones, & computer were all ruined during a storm- telephone repairman said they had more trouble with Dish attracting lightening than any other reason. Going over phone bill I noticed the 'inside repair' fee wasn't charged & called them right then. Found out DH had canceled it! I told 'em it was an error & please add it back...storm mentioned above happened the very next day! If I hadn't, they'd have charged $80.00 an hour! Yikes!!! Suzi
