You can make cute booties from styrofoam coffee cups. These are so quick and easy.Just cut down the front in 2 places to make the tongue. Then cut the rim off the top with scalloped scissors.Punch 2 sets of holes on the sides where you cut the tongue for lacing. Add the ribbon for laces,tie a bow and curl it. You can fill them with little goodies and add a little tag with a prayer to the tie. Best wishes to the new Mommy : )

I have two friends who wanted to give me a shower for my third child. I insisted very strongly to them that I did not need a shower, nor did I want one. Where I come from this is just not done! I thanked them profusely for wanting to, but I insisted on them not giving me a shower. Well, they surprised me with a shower, a lovely little dinner out with about 10 people, neighbors and friends who weren't around when we had the first two, since we had lived in a different state then. I was overwhelmed with emotion. So grateful that I had friends who wanted to do this for me, who wanted to celebrate my third child in this way. They went to a lot of trouble for me and I will never forget it. Let them throw you the shower. Amy

And here's the recipe I use...just use a yellow royal icing, recipe to be found on a box of merangue powder, tint it yellow and there you go! Cute idea! Sugar cookies: 1 cup of butter 2 cups of sugar Cream together and add 2 eggs beaten with 2 T milk and 1 teaspoon vanilla ( I like a bit more) Mix with the butter mix Add 3 cups flour mixed with 1/2 tsp salt....and as much as 1/2 cup more flour until it's stiff enough to roll out Make flat patties, wrap and refrigerate for an hour or longer.... Dust board with flour and roll and cut... Bake 375 for 8 to 10 minutes....I use parchment on the cookie sheets....if you don't have parchment....lightly grease the sheets. The absence of baking powder keeps them from rising and keeps the cookies true to the shape of the cutter.....and makes them crisp Here is a link that might be useful: cookie cutters

I just remembered how we made some baby shoes for a shower once... You cut a pattern shaped like the sole of a shoe...then cut crepe paper about three inches wide and long enough to go around the sole of your shoe. Fold the crepe paper to 1 1/2 in wide . The start glueing the the crepe paper (the side with the two edges on the bottom and the folded on the top) under the sole and stretching it a little as you go... Go all the way around the shoe. When it dries (or use hot or cold melt) tuck your finger into the toe and stretch it rounded and gather the top around the toe to shape it into a toe. You buy the crepe paper in the color you are using for the shower or blue / pink. You can glue a little lace around the top. I glued a bow and a little flower on the top of the toe. You can cut a second piece of carboard sole (I used poster board) and glue it to the bottom. Fill with mints..or whatever... Fill mine with chocolate please...LOL I'll look around to see if I can find the stuff to make one and post you a picture. patti
