american gas ranges

I've read a lot of strings about American ranges. We've been searching quite a while for a propane gas range that has a great broiler, an oven that is large enough for sheet baking and a stove top that has at least one high out put burner and one good simmer burner. After reading the forums, DSC and American seem like the only ones that meet our wants and still have good reliability. We don't have anyone who handles American near us in NH. 1. Has anyone used Madison or Acitydiscount or ??? and had ranges shipped? 2. How do you go about getting them set up? 3. And most importantly how do you get service on them?

Where in NH are you? Eurostoves sells American and they are in Beverly, MA.

We're in Jackson, near N. Conway. I've seen shipping charges of $700+ on the internet...I'll check out the Beverly location. Thanks

Loving my 36" American Range. It does it all & very well! Boils the water before I can turn my back, simmers very low & bakes beautifully. I especially am enjoying the convection feature for extra browning & exceptionally even cooking. The oven is huge. I can't believe how much I can fit in on just one shelf. The stainless top is easy to clean too. it really is a beautiful piece of equipment. Thank you all for turning me on to it.

ya_think, The setup has been in place the whole time I've lived here - 18 years, and probably another 7 by the prior owner who built it (it's a loft) - with no incidents while I've been here anyway, just mounting discomfort though I do love the look of the Wolf range. On your other questions, -the narrow door is for a separate cabinet that has wood and granite countertop continuous above it (so granite would have to be cut to remove it). The granite is 2 cm thick. I'm not sure what field-cut means, but if it means the cuts were made here, I don't think so, as on the other side there is a place with a small patch as if measuring was in error. -There are no cabinets just bare wall above the current range. -Removal would gain 6-1/4 inches (plus the 23-1/2 = 29 3/4") so it seems 24" range is biggest I could do. Seems I need to figure - how much hassle and work will be involved in removal (for example, the side of the remaining cabinet and the wall behind will need painting, wall need patching, need to find someone who can do the cutting without extra damage, cost -- versus having a 20" range ( the current one is 22"). Are there other things you think I should consider?

There is a difference in evenness in the oven of a $1k gas range and a good $4.5k range. I don't think there is a meaningful difference in the baking ability of the Capital gas oven and the typical electric even in pro-style range. The Wolf electric oven is atypical. You can bake three full racks and have consistent results. But the burners are not so great. Mediocre in this class. Can a Culinarian oven make a soufflÃÂ©? See link below. American Range or BlueStar- 24" gas range

I'd def suggest bluestar over the American. Bluestar is just a more commercial product that you will be pleased with. And given your space considerations, the 24" would be a great fit. I actually prefer the 24" to the 30" in general, as any 30" range has that useless dead space in the middle whereas with the 24", you can have the "slideability" on all 4 burners (ie, sliding the pots and pans around without having to lift them up). And if you think a 24" isn't big enough, then swing by Dmitris restaurant in 2nd and Catherine in Philly (which by your handle on here makes me think you're familiar with it), and see how they run a packed restaurant day in and day out using a 4 burner 24" range.

Chris Thompson who is VP for American range (I think that is his title) reads the post her on garden web. He will give you a service company in your area. If you do a search for his name, I'm sure his info will come up. Good luck.

Thanks Ana, I haven't had any luck finding "American Range" website as a company on the internet . Is Selectappliance their name? I'll give that a try.
Was the delivery and set up cost very high? Are you satisfied with the range?

The website is www.selectappliance and you would go to the homw appliance link. The delivery is free and we set it up. But I would assume that you would find someone in your area to set it up. We ordered the 30" so it wasn't complicated. Let us know what you decided.

Yes, I love my range and I am becoming more comfortable with cooking on gas. I previously owned a electric coil stove.

gwa17 welcome, i live in jackson nj and bought mine from josh dvorson in california. it cost 450. i believe to ship it. i have the 48". and it weighs 491 lbs.josh gave the best price and was geniuinely concerned with my purchase.those of us that have an american range on this site are happy with our purchase and the ease of contacting american range.best of luck.
