Toto vs. American Standard bathtub

Our GC is pressing us to know what bathtub we're going to specify. This should be a simple decision but who knew there were so many bathtubs out there! We're looking for something very basic and simple and not terribly expensive. Our allowance for a bathtub is $1000; we're willing to go a little bit over that but it would be great to be under that and save some money for a change! These two models seem to fit the bill (list price for both is over $1000 but I've found both on the web for less):

American Standard:

Toto:

First, is 66" a comfortable length for a bathtub? We would prefer 72" and have room for that length but the space is a bit narrow and 72" bathtubs just don't seem to come in widths any less than 36". (Somebody please correct me if I'm wrong!) Second, are there any significant differences in quality between Toto & American Standard?
