Comments (51)I've no clue how Mouet is pronounced, and never even heard of it until this conversation. Would not have corrected anybody if I heard them pronounce the T in Le Creuset either. I get a steady diet of customers who slice up botanical names of plants, and I just smile and sell it to them anyway. I'll give them the proper pronunciation if they ask, but as long as I understand them enough to fill their order, Sarah summed it up, I don't give a fig, ca-ching. The only reason I even responded about liasons and grammar (and God knows I have enough difficulty with grammar in English) is that I didn't want somebody else who might read this, and to whom it might make a difference..... (like a student or tourist) abiding by an erroneous grammar rule and then have a native smile at them politely and then have a good laugh in the wine cellar as Sheila says, or where ever else....... or worse yet, laughed at to their faces. And I've had that happen to me and told I have a terrible accent. I try to be careful about making "absolute" types of statements on the inet, since so many people take it at face value, so unless I'm pretty darned sure I'm correct statements should be prefaced with a disclaimer like "I think" and not presented as fact. The phonetics of French are the real baptism by fire. I first started studying it when we lived in the Maritime Provinces and then was constantly sat upon by my teacher later when I went to a boarding school closer to Paris, because even some of the idiomatic expressions I used and pronunciations I was comfortable with differed from what he used.....and you can be sure I heard about it. Even though I quizzed out of French in University back here in the States and given credit without having to take the courses, I don't now, nor have I ever considered myself "fluent" in it....See Moregrrr miele do. spend $$$ no instruction
Comments (36)"What model did you get" It's the Optima seies, G2470. "The HOSES, you can not cut them." The last 4 pages of the operating instructions, have some instalation instructions, the first 2 pages being, recycly the box it came in, recycle the old dishwasher, dont use an extension cord, it must be grounded. Duh. The last two pages are actually useful, and there is another picture of the inlet hose, with scisours, and a knife cutting them, with big Xs on the scisors, and knife. I know not to use a sawsall, either cuz there are actual words under the picture explaining why you cant cut it. "You could get Miele to install the dishwasher for you." First off I thought I payed for that, in the over $14,000 dollars I gave the appliance store. It was my understanding that the trim kit for the Frigidaire freezer, and refrigerator, was the only work I was doing, and of course now, moving the gas, that some dumb*&%$, me, put in the wrong place. Second, I am pretty much out of money. "I'd make sure you can put all the parts, and pieces together..." It came with a red piece of paper, with more words on it. "DEAR INTALLER When installing this appliance please do not throw away any part and/or installation/instruction booklets. These will be needed in the future. Please put any unused parts e.g. plastic bag of screws, plinths, instructions. etc. inside the appliance after installation. Any questions call MEILE USA 1-800-999-1360" Questions, yeah I got questions. "OMG you're scaring me." Be afraid, very afraid....See MoreCooktop in front of kitchen window?
Comments (20)We have our GE Monogram propane cooktop in front of a window and I love it. Our counters are 30 inches deep so that does give a bit of extra room between the cooktop and window. If you have room, I'd go for the deeper counters -- amazing increase in amount of storage in the drawers and it's nice to have the additional depth on the counter. We have a Dacor downdraft. Friends of ours in Portland have an in-ceiling exhaust with no exposed hood that seems to be working for them. It just passed their inspections with no problem so that might be an option. Also, building codes vary tremendously so that's where you should start. Our window even opens and we had no problem with inspections. Our county specifies that it meet the manufacturers' specs and our does; that was the end of the discussion. I'm sure you will find a way to make this happen! Here's ours --...See MorePaykel & Fisher Appliances - Yea or Nay?
Comments (5)I have the double drawer dishwasher in 2 homes and love it. The older one had drawers that I had to place plates leaning slightly but in the new one they have corrected that with a larger top drawer. I like it as I am alone and using a single drawer is great for me and if I have company use 2. I would not buy a package, get sub zero towers. I have Lacanache stove, if I didn't have that stove (although Love it) I would go Blue Star or Wolf....See More- 11 years ago
