Clean Burnt Pot with Ease
Comments (2)Hmmm...I can't help but think that that 'may' work in 'some' cases, that it just won't work in every case. I once severely burned popcorn in a stainless steel pan. Soap, regardless of what kind it was, or how it was used, didn't begin to help it. I worked on it off and on for several days using something similar to these..... Stainless Steel Scrubber Pads. Lots of other good, and some not so good, tips at the link below. Comments (23)JuneGardner - That happened to us quite a number of times: waking up to coffee overflowing the counter is NOT fun! When you shake the top, you can hear a ball-like piece jiggling around. You can imagine that as coffee flows over it, the oils and residue will start to accumulate in that space, too...and sometimes the ball just gets stuck in place, which plugs the hole where the coffee normally drips in. I soak the top in a bowl of warm, soapy water for about an hour, every few days....really jiggle it around to loosen the old coffee. During my daily wash/rinse, you have to keep the ball jiggling as you're washing. Haven't had a leak in a while. Good luck....See MoreCleaning off burnt on food on burner bibs
Comments (8)Place burner pans in a garbage bag (outside) and pour some ammonia in them, close wire bag and leave overnight. Next day, carefully open bag (fumes will be very strong), remove pans, wash with soap and water (use steel wool pad if necessary). Ammonia loosens the burned on grease. To prevent grease from burning on, use Fuller Brush Oven Spray on the pans after washing/drying. This will keep grease from sticking to the pans, makes easier to clean. SPRAY PANS OUTSIDE to prevent kitchen floor from becoming slick as glass. Porcelain pans are easier to clean than stainless steel. It is not necessary to use oven spray every day on the pans, a simple wipe out of the pans will work for a long time....See MoreHow to clean a BADLY scorched SS pot? (pics)
Comments (24)Could not find the most recent thread but this one popped up in a search... Yesterday i fried my stainless favorite chick pea pot. Got busy out in the yard, yada yada...just went out to see how the early sun was affecting the front beds. (looking for a spot for some semi-shade plantings) Burnt my pot hard and crusty. Very hard. BarKeepers not handy or misplaced...added a tbsp of 7thGeneration dishwasher detergent. Water to cover and let soak just a few minutes. Put on a low burner till very hot...just a few minutes while watching....placed in sink. Once cooled a few minutes i poured off the 'soaking hot liquid' and the gunk was soft. (first pic) The rest slid off without barely a scrub in minutes...phew Just a bit of heat...no different than using the crusty bits from roasting to make a gravy...once some heat is added with wine or liquid, the crusty bits soften off the bottom of the pan to make a gravy....See Moremike_kaiser_gw
