Trim color: need a shade darker than S-W 7562 Roman Column
Comments (0)Good morning! I am very close to finalizing my paint selections for my new build. I love the wall colors I've selected but my trim color is still a little whiter than I'd like; I wanted something creamier. I do not want to do any antiquing. The trim will be used on doors, trim, crown molding, and most of the cabinetry in the house. The wall colors include: + S-W 6107 Nomadic Desert (same color card as Latte, just one shade lighter) + S-W 6105 Divine White (same color card as Latte, just three shades lighter) + S-W 7687 August Moon + S-W 7509 Tiki Hut The currently selected trim color is S-W 7562 Roman Column. It's a very nice white and looks creamy in most light, but now that I see it painted next to my wall colors on the sample boards, it looks too white. Most of our floors will be walnut stained red oak. The carpeted areas will be a regular ol' beige-brown carpet. Any suggestions? I do plan to call Sherwin-Williams today to see if they can recommend something 1 shade creamier. Thanks! try_hard ......See MorePaint color looks darker than in example photos

(I tried different combos too..with lighter colors maybe you need less than 50% cut. You won't know until you try) Then it might work-or not. And yes, it might throw off the color. If it works-ask the store to save the new formula under your name/account. At the very least write it all down. When choosing colors we're sure we'll remember it. Yet after X years one starts forgetting, I have a list of all my colors, normal and custom, saved in computer, and in paper version. Touch ups, etc. I wish @Lori A. Sawaya would see the thread..she's a pro in everything regarding paint, and her contribution would be very valuable. While I'm just sharing my experience with paint colors, especially the latest experience, long long gut remodel and choosing 20 or so colors for my space, and yes, tweaking formulas sometimes. And none of the colors I loved in other people houses I loved in mine-my house is on the darker side, and they all seemed too cold too somehow. Even the colors I wanted to "borrow" from my previous place-had to research from the beginning-light was different But of course you can try and see whether works. Comments (25)I was just exaggerating a point and trying to be funny at the same time. I live in the deep south where until recently the norm was any wall color and semi-gloss or high-gloss white trim. And I mean WHITE, not White Dove, Linen White, etc. We just had the Parade of Homes in our city with 60+ homes being showcased and not a single one followed that color scheme. It's all pale colors, off whites, with similar trim colors. I do like it, but pairing the "near neutrals" can be a little overwhelming for the non-professional. One of my favorite rooms in my home has Pale Avocado walls, Woodlawn Blue ceiling and bright white trim. I never get tired of it. I just wanted to break out of my comfort zone and step into the world of neutrals in my bathroom. It's been quite a learning experience. The paint stores love the amount of $$$ I'm spending on paint samples! Thanks for your perspective....See MoreShould my paint be lighter or darker than my cabinets?
