I forgot all about the little sewing Jars I made for gifts and to sell. I'm using pieces of an old quilt in a canning Jar lid to use as a pincushion, and inside the Jar I made matchbook type needle keeps. I used printed cardstock(whatever is on sale for .12 at the time! lol)to line the lid, make the matchbook and to glue 2 pieces together and cut slits in to hold thread. I put in buttons, safety pins, and some iron on hem tape. You could use any fabric and some batting. And I think these would be good gifts for the college boys and girls on your list. So I mae some in plaids and paislies..masculine prints...too,lol! Amy I liked working with just regular quilting cotton and muslin in the middle, I have another one laid out on the living room floor ready to start tomorrow. The flannel quilts I donated to my neighbours church for their craft booth at a festival here the end of next month, as for the one I just finished am giving it to a young girl in town who works at the local grocery store she was so good at bringing stuff by the house when my DH was ill. I think you will do fine making the tree skirt and pleased with it......Gillian

I did the Shakespeare in the Park in August or September, then did another one for my son's wedding finishing it in October, then started all the disappearing nine patches toward the first of November. :) I cut them all out at one time, then I finished one per week so that I could get them to the quilter. Now it is time to quilt for me! I have several landscapes and wall quilts that I want to attempt. Jackie

Yes! I lose Christmas gifts! I had a very busy day yesterday with a short window of time to wrap lots of presents while my son was at the babysitter. I have a genetic defect which makes me put things away in hiding spots and then forget where I've put them. My mother passed this gene on to me. I remember lots of holiday dinners where she remembered the rolls in the oven after we'd all begun eating, etc. She also buys "C" batteries at the store only to get home and find that they've changed into "AA" size batteries, and so on. Yup, me too. I buy 3 packages of Large undershirts for my husband only to get home and find out that I've got 2 "large" and one "Extra Small". So I finally found all of my wrapables yesterday and got everything done in record time! And I was smart enough to put ALL of the wrapped gifts in one big box in the closet. Oh, except for the space heater for my husband's ice-fishing shack. That was too big to put in the gift box so I put it in the closet and hid it under a coat. I'm SURE I won't forget to put it out on Christmas Eve with the rest of the presents........maybe a kind Kitchen Table person can remind me????
