polished stainless/polished nickel w/ polished chrome?
Comments (6)Thanks for the responses. We had always planned for this bathroom to be just a guest room bath until sometime in the far future we would need an accessible bathroom. So, in the interest of saving money at the time we didn't add the grab bars. Unfortunately, I had a too enthusiastic Memorial Day weekend which resulted in a broken foot bone. Now that I need to use this bathroom we're going to add the grab bars as soon as possible. My recommendation for anyone else doing an accessible bathroom is to do it all at the same time. You never know when you're going to need it or whether you'll be able to match the fittings when you do. Thanks again for the help....See MorePolished chrome and polished nickel fixtures in same kitchen?
Comments (11)My very expensive polished nickel Brizo Virage bath faucet is absolutely beautiful and doesn't match any of the other polished nickel fixtures I bought! I'm going crazy. Why oh why didn't I hold them up together in the bathroom before I had them installed? I replaced two-tone accessories and now I have gold again! The faucet looks gold and everything else looks like chrome. I can't find a soap dispenser or fingertip towel holder to match! Every manufacturer's polished nickel is a different color...My Amerock Markham towel bars and tissue holder are beautiful, but look more like chrome. Now what? If you want everything to match and not show every fingerprint and waterspot, stick with chrome....See MoreChrome or SS faucet to go with polished nickel hardware?
Comments (10)I am not sure why you can't have a polished nickel single-handle gooseneck faucet. There are a number of manufacturers who make them. Just off the top of my head, without researching, I can think of Rohl, Hansgrohe, Kohler (particularly the Kohler Vinnata), and my favorite, Newport Brass. But there are others. Just do a search on various websites like faucets.com or homeclick.com. Here's a link to the Newport Brass single-handle pull-down kitchen faucet #94P in polished nickel. I really like their products. Though pricey, it's high-quality, and their finishes are top-notch. Sometimes Newport Brass has a long lead time though, but not always. But there are several other manufacturers who make polished nickel faucets. BTW, since you said you're not sure the difference bet. a pull-out and a pull-down, they are as follows: it's pretty much explained by their names. A pull-down faucet points straight down; many people feel they are more ergonomic to use. Some gooseneck pull-downs are very tall; you need to make sure you have the height clearance for them. I myself have a pull-out (the Grohe Ladylux Plus) which, well, pulls out instead of down. I don't find my pull-out to be un-ergonomic at all, and I like that it reaches across more towards the middle in my sink, rather than pointing down and closer to the edge. But that's just my taste. There are fans in both camps. HTH. Here is a link that might be useful: Newport Brass Kitchen Faucet #94P...See MorePolished Nickel Sconces, Chrome Everything Else? (HELP, PLEASE.)
Comments (0)Unfortunately there absolutely can be a visible difference between Polished Chrome and Polished Nickel. For example, I attempted to pair Pottery Barn's Kensington Rectangular Pivot Mirror in Chrome with Hudson Valley's Amherst Sconces in Polished Nickel, and the Chrome looked overwhelmingly blue next to the warmth of the Polished Nickel. The fixtures had to be returned because I couldn't return the mirrors and we'd already selected Chrome everywhere else: faucets, shower panel, shower door hinges and handle, cabinet hardware; what I'm now realizing was a rookie mistake considering I didn't pinpoint sconces first and lo and behold, everything I like is Polished Nickel, not Chrome. Now we're a month out from fixture install, if not less, and while I should have other sconces ordered and ARRIVED by now I'm STILL combing the Internet for a Chrome sconce I don't loathe. :( I'm wondering if I could get away with Polished Nickel sconces and Chrome everywhere else if I paired the sconces on the wall with just frameless, floating mirrors, sidelining the Kensingtons for another room (or for resale). I dare to think Polished Nickel sconces could be a singular statement piece if they were just left to themselves, i.e., if I didn't position them on either side of loudly Chrome mirrors. *nail biting*...See Moreredroze
