Konrad, if you like the apple you might want to send the U. Minn breeding program a couple of bucks. I think it's still under patent protection. Northern growers especially owe that teem big time- what a great program. I need to send them a few bucks for grafts I made of Honeycrisp a few years ago. I found that if I grafted it on real old apple trees it is a much easier apple, without those rot spots.

I just found a use for it...to take pesky sticky labels off of a jar(wine bottle) or plastic container, first fill container with very hot water and allow to sit a couple minutes then peel off label. There will be some adhesive remaining...use WD40 to remove all traces of sticky! Works like a miracle!

This was really fun! And Joshua did a great job picking a good mix of folks. A couple have never had the rice, some people I know, one I've never heard of! I was very happy to be able to share rice this year. I've never seen a crop like this, and I don't expect I ever will again. There have been years I have ordered rice from Deer River, Minnesota when our crop was slim. I ordered 30 lbs of rice from the guy a couple weeks ago for a friend who was coming to town for Thanksgiving. The shipping to my house was cheaper than shipping it to Texas. I had plans to meet this friend for drinks and I handed off the rice then. If anyone wants the name of that place, let me know. There are several rice sellers in Deer River, but only one has hand harvested lake rice. Teresa

I knowed it had to be something simple, just couldn't work it out. The squash sounds like a perfect accompaniment to the pork. I think I'd go with something a little more visually assertive than white asparagus, though. The pork & pears are essentially white, ya know. Maybe sweet & sour red cabbage?
