Please tell why you like your steam oven
Comments (4)We don't have one yet. But will be getting the Gagg. We had no use for pure steam so passed on Miele. But the combo (with convection) seems to be "fun." :) You get to play with the moisture in the oven for different types of food to see if you can bake/cook them better. We are hoping for example to be able to make better bread in them, and bake meat, etc. while retaining more moisture. BTW, another side benefit is that because they are small, they heat faster so it shortens the overall cooking time a bit. We were originally going to get a double oven and the salesman who was hobby chef on the side, talked us into it. He says he has the most fun with that of anything he owns. After we use ours for a while, I will report back as to whether that was sales talk or reality :). The main con is what it takes to keep them clean (no self clean cycle although there is a steam program to soak the bits in there). We are not into keeping cooking appliances neat and clean so that won't bother us much. But for others, it might. The other is that these are small ovens compared to normal convection wall oven....See MorePlease tell me about your Miele Speed Oven
Comments (1)I'm getting a miele single oven and am considering the miele speed oven as well. Seems like most people are happy with it, although there are some remarks about difficulty in cleaning. I've had a difficult time getting information on just how fast it cooks. Can it make a chicken in 20 minutes like the Advantium 240 or TurboChef?...See MoreShow & Tell - Vines! Tell me about your Vines and why you love them.
Comments (19)Hi june, I am on about 4 acres and there are woods on most sides of the property and only one neighbor on one side that I can see and its fenced there lol. So escapee passiflora and other vines aren't a problem. In fact, there are "wild /rogue" trumpet vines, japanese honeysuckle, and carolina jessamine growing all crazy out in the woods and up various trees on the back of the property. I have a lot of gulf frits so they do keep the escaped (from pots) passies under control here too. For additional control, I grow most of my passiflora in pots and use 3 tall bamboo poles tied together at the top in the large pots. Then I use fishing line and black electrical tape to create a little trellis for them to attach their tendrils onto between the bamboo poles. Then I position the pots up against a fence or tree and let them climb that way once they grow over the bamboo poles. When it freezes, I cut them back to the length of the bamboo pole/trellis and move the pots into the gh because some of the passies I grow will freeze back badly and some are tropical so gh culture during the winter is best for those. ~SJN...See MoreWolf E-Series Speed Oven vs. GE Advantium Speed + Wall Oven?
Comments (3)I have the 24" E series Wolf Speed Oven. You'll find some negative reviews here, but 6 months in I've grown to like it a lot. Once I learned how to use it, I've found it works really well both as a micro and as a convection oven (I've used the combo mode a few times and it's fine but not a mainstay for me). The only real negative was that the glass platter cracked about 3 weeks in. Wolf shipped a new one for free and even reimbursed me for the purchase of a temporary microwave while waiting for it to arrive. I posted a longer review here: https://www.houzz.com/discussions/6319311/kitchen-before-and-after-with-thanks...See More2LittleFishies
