Toto Washlet Problem
Comments (35)Jon, I had no luck in finding the broken part. Toto won't sell them either. They say that since the unit mixes water and electricity in the small confines of a toilet seat they don't want people opening it up, messing something up and electrocuting themselves with a bidet. Can you imagine what your family would write in your obituary? The only way I think you can swing it is to find a similar broken unit on eBay that has something wrong with it other than the wand mechanism. Like a cracked outer housing or something like that. To take off the housing, there is one screw located at the back and the rest are plastic clips. I started on a corner with a screwdriver and carefully pried each clip up. Then, when the clips were all up, carefully unfold the inner portion from the outer casing. You might have to reach in and remove some wires from retaining clips while you do this. The wand mechanism has the hoses running to it and a wiring harness. You can easily remove those. Getting the whole motor and wand out was a bit more of a challenge. You have to finagle it out being careful not to break any of the plastic arms holding it in place. There is one plastic cross brace at the back near the motor that you can remove to make this easier, though. I would not try to replace just the linear gear, but rather the whole motor unit with wand attached if you can find one. Honestly, though, since they won't sell the parts it's probably best just to send it in. I know how hard that is to do. Especially after getting it apart and separating out the broken piece. All you need is that one piece and it would be done....See MoreToto Washlet, do you like yours?
Comments (5)I bought two about 6 months ago. One was for mom. Mine isn't installed yet but mom sure loves hers and so do I :) What kind of prices are you finding? When I bought ours it was over $1000 at the local plumbing store. ewins.com had it for (I think) $647...close to that if not exact. We bought the Jasime (S300). Yikes, the price on that same site is now $840. If it's in your budget, I really don't think you'll regret it and probably wonder how you managed without it. Comments (40)jimrin: "I'm thinking of getting the Inax Clessence CW-H230-RW (for round toilet seat), which has the control panel attached to the side of the seat, for my mom. However, I cannot find any documentation which says that the spray can be oscillating (automatic movement of the position of the spray back and forth). Does their bidet support that?" The Inax Clessence does not have an oscillation feature. I do not know whether the R-series or L-series Inax seats have that option. The specific model of the two Toto Washlets that are installed in our sister and bother-in-law's home in Kamakura does have that feature, and, being the curious type, I have given it a couple of test drives. Not a feature that I would use even if we had it on ours at home. To be fair, the trial was not apple-to-apples or oranges-to-oranges, because the angle of incidence of the spray from their one-wand Toto Washlet is much closer to horizontal, and the angle of incidence of the spray from our two-wand Inax Clessence is much closer to vertical, than the other. Perhaps I would have liked the oscillating spray more if it were incorporated in a more vertical spray; it is difficult to speculate....See MoreQuestion about the Toto Washlet deodorizer
Comments (27)I have both the s350e and s550e. Earlier comments are correct that you can remove and clean the filter. I clean mine monthly but do not forget to replace the carbon cartridge. Here’s the part #: Toto THU9476 Deodorizer Cartridge . You can buy it from Lowe’s for about $31 or www.plumbersstock.com for about $27 after shipping. This, along with cleaning the wand housing, will help eliminate the smell that some have reported that develops over time....See MoreMongoCT
