This Kohler shower head? Anyone have one?

I really like the look of the Kohler shower head and rain shower. Does anyone have one of these in their bathroom? I am confused about the choice in the amount of spray holes. They come in a 22 hole or 54 hole spray option. I can't find any info on which one would be more powerful or forceful. Is it the 54 holes because it has more holes? Or is it the 22 hole because less holes more direct water? My guess is the 54 hole is a wider less forceful flow and the 22 hole is a more forceful flow.

A friend of mine has these in his shower. If I'm remembering correctly, your assessment of the 2 versions of heads is correct - the 54 hole is a gentler spray and the 22 hole has a slightly more forceful pressure. They look nice and modern, but personally I don't like them operationally. I never actaully used the shower, but I hand-tested all the features and I thought the flow was a little weak. They just didn't feel powerful. One man's secondhand opinion here, so take it for what it's worth (probably very little).

Codnuggets, Thanks for your opinion. Wonder if your friend had the 22 or 54 for the shower head. I'm surprised more people don't have this system. There has to be someone else interested in it.

How funny. We have the opposite problem. Our faucets are Jado Victorian, but the showerhead they offer with it is plain and modern. The second it went in I hated it with our other stuff. I'm thinking about ordering one from another company, but need to match the platinum nickel finish.

Tempered glass is really only susceptible to shattering if it's hit by something that can scratch or chip the edge glass. Most items in a shower are soft; plastic bottles, elbows, even boney elbows. Metal shower heads can be hard, but they usually don't have much mass behind them, so they'll usually just deflect off the shelf if they collide. Though I don't have glass in my own showers, I've installed plenty of glass shelves in houses. In showers, medicine cabinets, and the one that always makes me cringe: in kitchen cabinets. I give the owners of the homes I've built an annual call. No one has ever told me about a broken shelf. Every few years one of the glass shops has a "let's break glass" demonstration. I was placing an order at the shop several years ago when they had a demonstration. I stuck around to watch, it's pretty amazing how much abuse tempered glass can take. I'm not scared of using tempered glass, but I respect that it still is glass.

I do have a Karbon. Wall-mounted. Love it. I looked all over for a soap dispenser that wouldn't argue with the Karbon. We just put this one in. It looks good, but its operation seems to be to be a bit stiff. This saves on soap though. :) My last soap dispenser gushed at the slightest pressure. @dbabrams - Curious -- which shower head did you go with on that? I was looking at the R which is made for the rain shower. Also, if you just use the hand shower does it go on/off with the diverter? Or do you need to turn on the shower then use the diverter? None of this is ever explained in the sales material. I was looking at this specifically so I could use a pressure balance valve -- no thermostatic. It's for a shower in an expanded powder room. Thermostatic plus the extra valves and trims pretty much doubles the cost. Trying to keep it simple but highly functional since it's basically a first floor utility shower.

You know, I don't recall. He has some of each of the body sprays, but I'm not sure which one he has for the shower head. Maybe someone else can give you first-hand info. Sorry.

Hi, do a search on this forum for "watertile" which is the name of the Kohler head you are asking about. By the way, they also sell an overhead flat tile version with four tiles. We wanted a rainshower effect and decided against the watertile. We looked at one that was set up for demonstration in the local Superbath store.

Susurradeluz,thanks, I like the look of the overhead four tile version. I would like to have that and two of the shower heads installed. I had searched the forum before posting this and there wasn't much out there about this product. Why did you decide against it? What did you decide to go with instead?

I have the 54 hole ..total 16 heads 8 on each side with 2 controls in a 6x10 shower...I admit it is a bit of over kill seeing that I don't have enough water pressure to run both at the same time but with the control I can chose how many I want on. So my answer is that I really like the 54 hole using one or eight as I have no complaints and I would rate it a 5 star choice

My current client bought four Kohler Body Spray Jets for her new shower. We will not be running them for a couple weeks but I dislike a lot the rough in for this style shower fixture and do not think the design lends itself at all to waterproofing measures.

The op just has a shower head version and it can easily be waterproofed.

The body sprays can be waterproofed by carefully cutting the sheet membrane waterproofing to the plaster guards and then sealing the joint with the membrane's sealant like KerdiFix, or NobelSealant. Not DIY easy, but plenty doable for a pro or seasoned remodeler.

You could also use HydroBan liquid waterproofing membrane to do both jobs, and that is just painted on with a brush or roller. It will stick to cement board, pipes, and plaster guards and make the assemble waterproofed.
