Not holiday--but garden decor

I've been painting a bit. Made a couple of little signs that I thought were sorta cute. Mostly just because I liked the little snail.

Now I'm doing some boxes for Christmas. Found a pattern in a craft mag and knew it was perfect for some stacked boxes I've had in the craft cabinet forever. I'll post them when finished too.

That is one of the CUTEST signs I've EVER seen!! How delightful. I still can't believe how talented you are with your garden signs. Great job!

I'm so glad you all liked the book/pictures! Not much :-) River rock is typically sold by the ton......one ton of 2" rock in a single layer (so 2" deep) will cover approx 70 square feet.

Yes, the plan does warrant boxes. They will be on a large slabbed patio that is very geometric in nature. Through careful placement and usage I can take advantage of the hard edges and angles already in place to create a nice sense of unity. I am a designer, I can nerd out about this stuff for hours ;) Also, I was looking for a whitewashed look as well, as some of the brick on the back wall of the house has an aged look with white flecks... it would be a nice tie in to the boxes and wouldn't create such an abrupt change. Though tension is always nice.

Luvs, that sign is adorable and your garden behind looks so inviting...just like a "secret" garden. You are so creative and artistic with all your painting! I don't have an ounce of talent in that area.

Thanks everyone, the signs are fun to paint, and I can change them out with the seasons--and they don't take much storage space!

You know I have to tell you that with every painted project--there is an "ugly" stage. It's where you've only put the main colors on and it just looks sort of "rough" and "blah" and you often think "this looks awful". But then you persevere and maybe go over an area with one more coat of paint, and you start to add some shading and then some "details", and suddenly it looks lots, lots better. It just dawned on me that this truly is a "life lesson" too. Sort of like "Hang in there, keep working at it, fluff it up a bit, and it will turn out fine." LOL

I tried to post the other night when I first saw this darling sign but, the computer wouldn't let me for whatever reason. I'm glad now because I really like the words of wisdom on the life lesson.
I am working on a very steep bank in my side yard and it still looks sparse and ugly with all of the little pieces of this and that just freshly transplanted. But I know if I keep working, watering, mulching, fertilizing, adding more plants, and rows of rocks to hold everything back when it pours rain, next year it will be lush and very beautiful compared to the way it looks now.
The same is very true in childraising, our marriages, friendships, and let's not forget-- those tablesettings!!!!
