Your house is going to be gorgeous! Like mine it has lots of gables and it's not just square (to me that spells personality!). You already can see by my pics what 9 lites would look like on your square windows b/c they're basically the same window. It's the arched windows and front door that you have I wasn't sure about (BTW, love the arches). So, since I'm photoshop challenged I have to use this dusty cranium of mine (ouch!). In a "mind" visual I can see 9 lites in those windows and think they would look awesome. Hopefully someone will step up with photoshop for you. If not, print that picture and using a black pen darken all the grills on those arched windows to make 9 lites yourself. Keep the two vertical heavier grills and the top and bottom lighter horizontal grills as the 9 lite grills and then darken everything else that doesn't belong. Looks cool huh!

Hi Spencer, A Par 20 lamp is too long to be aimed at wall art in a 4" housing. It won't pivot enough without hitting the side of the can. How did you aim at the walls with what you have now? Nora must be including a short whip with the slot aperture trim to convert to a line voltage GU10 base MR16 because that type of slot aperture trim only works with small lamps like the MR16. Check on the adjustment range for the trim and wattage limit with the combination. You may be limited to 35 watts. To dramatize and call attention to something accent lighting needs to boost the lumens on the subject well above the surroundings to bring your eye to it. You may need to dim the center fixture to help compensate so that the art stands out if I understand the look you want of spotted paintings glowing more intensly than the surroundings rather than the general wash of light you have now. Different brands and styles of trims have different ranges of adjustments. Normally the slot aperture has the largest of the adjustment ranges and may go to 40 or 45 degrees without blocking the lamp so this should be a good choice. Other trims claim 35 or more degrees but may partially block the lamp.

We are looking more towards a double door- we DO have to get this done soon as we put in for a grant up here for people to get their homes rated higher- ours was only a 2+ rating & the state will pay a certain % back if we upgrade AND get it up at least one star rating. My hubby has been a stink at putting things off- we already paid $350 for the rating inspection & at that time we had 18 mos to get it completed & get refunded UP to 10k (depending on what we can upgrade to raise the rating- nothing higher than we have paid of course) Well NOW, it's been about 13 mos.. & he has now left it up to ME to figure out WHAT to do :( I'm SO flustered by it (& him LOL) but I know we'll never get the chance to get in on this again... the whole entry is terrible *cold* and drafty. We think by replacing that (those big huge windows by the door mostly!) and adding more insulation UNDER the house- this should up the rating quite a bit. They were definitely on the inspection list. Because we are so low on lighting up here- we'd really like some sort of window above as that actually helps light the upper level as well. We are able to order just about anything we find on the net because we have it shipped to a shipping barge in Seattle and they bring it right to us :) I don't want anything fancy & that seems to be a lot of my problem as most of what I see ARE real fancy or solid wood etc. Thank you so much for your thoughts on this!!! thank you for the rendering, since the picture was taken all the burgundy paint trim (making all the rectangles) was painted the same as the rest of the area so that it just blended in. The door itself is being replaced, right now it is 6 panel with no glass/window. The side lights are each 24 inches wide and the texture is such that at night you can see in pretty clearly. The sidelights are also older glass that has little to no insulation value and we are in a cold climate. We don’t want to make the entry smaller because of the brickwork that would have to be added. Instead we are looking at building up trim in between the sidelights and the door. because the house is a tri-level and no one is building those anymore (I believe) I am struggling with what kind of door to replace with. We are not mid-century and don’t really like that style anyway. while I can scroll through images and doors for sale I just don’t know what the right look for the house should be.
