Uh Oh...I think we've messed up on the garage plan.

But fortunately (hopefully) it's not too late to fix it! I've just realized that the garage door we have drawn on our plan is 16 X 8. I had no idea that our current garage was any different. Then we measured. Our current garage door is 18 feet wide. And trust me there is NO WAY I could park that mammoth of a vehicle Avalanche if the door were any narrower!

The way I see it we have two options, either increase the size of the new garage along with a larger door or increase the size of the door and leave the width the same. The new garage will be very narrow (22 feet wide) in order to fit on our lot. Every foot of width I add will take away a foot of the courtyard/patio which I don't want to lose. So here's my question: can we put an 18 foot door on a 22 foot wide garage? Keep in mind the narrowness of the interior space of the garage isn't a problem. We will not be storing anything along the sides because we have storage at the end since it's 26 feet long.

What do you think????
