Saphire I bought a Precedent Microfiber sofa from Marshall Field's about 2 years ago. My sister has a Precedent sofa that I love and the fact that it's a divison of Sherrill I figured I could not go wrong. The sofa arrived on a Thursday, I had a party on Sunday. After the party the sofa felt like it was a few years old vs. a few days. It was very cushy. Not what I expected. Then I noticed it started to eat things; my hair, lint, you name it. I figured since it was my 3rd sofa I was stuck with it. About 8 months later I started looking at rugs and club chairs. I mentioned to my new sales associate that my sofa was eating things. She asked me to bring in a cushion, she spoke to her manager and they sent a technican to my house. He said it looked like I got a "bad" batch of furniture and they could replace the cushion. I said NO because then the cushion fabric would be different from the back. They offered me a replace or a refund. I opted for the refund. This time I bought bought velvet. I am not suprised that the store is being attentive, I am sure they have dealt with this before. I guess microfiber can be hit or miss. Good luck.

I have microfiber couches- love them. I know that there are products you can specifically for cleaning microfiber, but I've never used them. If I were you, I'd start by trying plain water and a clean white cloth. Just damped the cloth and trying rubbing the spot and see if it comes off. Usually works for me. What kind of stains are they- are they something recognizable? For example, if you have ink marks, use a white cloth and some hand sanitizer- works great! Try googling microfiber and ketchup (or whatever the stain looks like) and see what you come up. Hope that helps. Ashley

It was probably a no-no, but I used a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser on mine. It dulled the finish just a bit, but who knows what the crud was so I didn't figure I was losing anything. You could test a small spot first. Car detailing places would probably know of some things to clean ink if the good old stand-by of hairspray doesn't work. Most of the leather cleaners we've used in the past were for general grime. My cows must be pretty tough because some mild soap and water worked just fine. I can't believe how well this couch has held up with my crew. Gloria

Microfiber is about the smallest man made thread or fiber their is. Its small and woven very tight, thats why water will bubble on its surface. Making for easy cleaning and helps in durability. Having a tight weave and being made from polyester, it doesnt breath very well. Actually their are very few man made fibers that breath very well or wick moisture. Unless you can find a "CoolMax" type upholstery fabric, but I dont know of any. A natural fabric made of or blended; cotton, linen, wool, hemp, or bamboo fibers are best at wicking away moisture and heat. But they are costly compared to polyester.
