Also, some people in here with the previous La Perla model say they use the Sensor Wash most of the time, since it automatically adjusts the wash time based on how dirty the load is. It does this by using a turbidity sensor. The Diamond has this sensor wash, the Dimension Plus does not.

I think the biggest difference is the water softner. With the Bosch,you are supposed to test your water for hardness level then set the softner level. With the Miele, the DW measures the hardness level then softens the water.It manipulates the hardness level for optimum mineral content throughout the cycle. This is particularly usefull if using Perfect GlassCare cycle. The Bosch will be a bit quieter. An owner of the Dimension Plus says it has auto open like the Diamond but not auto close. But I don't see that on the spec sheet. This allows steam to exit out the door right after the cycle is done and aids drying. Neither have heated dry. Using goverment test the Bosch is more energy/water efficient.Until very recently,government DW test were done with clean dishes:) Some people here on GW did some "real world test" a while ago and it was really really close. The 800 Plus is made in Germany and is of very high quality but I think the Miele is a bit higher. If you care about companies enviromental policies then Miele is better there too. From green non-toxic manufacturing to parts recycling. Bosch is not illegaly dumping chemicals into some river but Miele takes its commitment to a higher level than required by law. I don't recall owners of either posting regrets and wishing they bought something else. Both seem happy with their purchase.

My current machine has a cabinet panel and hidden controls. It looks like any other cabinet, as someone mentioned, so it will never look dated until the whole kitchen does. It isn't noticeable or a design factor at all -- it's purely functional. The one I installed in our apartment had a stainess front and handle but also hidden controls. I think the front panel and latch would be prone to fingermarks and drips. But others may not agree. It is strictly a matter of preference in terms of how it will look, and of course budget and function. However, these dishwashers tend to last so long it's a commitment as well. I think it's smart to take a deliberate and persistent approach. I'm with bluedevil on this one. Budget willing, and with the idea of what you buy you will keep for a long time, the only truly new feature offered in any dishwasher available right now is the interior lighting. Previously, it was the silverware tray. I've deliberately tried all the cycles on my machines. However, there are some I use more than others so the number is not important. But the high-use cycles are. Everyone is different, of course. And it's hard to tell anyone in advance what they will turn out to use or not -- as we've seen with Express. . For me, if I had SaniWash, Normal, China/Crystal and Express, I'd be fine. Rinse and Hold can be very useful if you are not washing right away and I found it keeps the dishes from smelling bad. My current machine has a "top only" setting which has been done away with. I've maybe used it 5 times in 10 years. But the Diamond is a top-of-the-line machine so they seem to have put in all the wash options they could think of. My washer has the same thing -- it's Miele think -- the appliance version of the "all you can eat" buffet with New Year's Eve pricing 24/7. Most of us have mixed loads 90% of the time, I'd venture. So unless you're running an Italian restaurant how often will anyone have a full load for the "starch & cheese" setting? I don't understand "tall items" as a setting. But I don't understand "dress shirts" as a setting on my washer. Expect it would be handy if I was running a laundry LOL You can laugh but the drying is more or less predicated on heat from full loads so having one is a good idea if it can be managed. We bought a Miele Lumen dishwasher a couple years ago and have had nothing but problems from the time it was installed. The dishes don’t get clean. I have tried all their “suggestions” and several different soaps. A tech came out a few times but nothing changed. As a last-ditch effort, I recently decided to try it on the “sanitize” cycle and that worked finally. The part I hate about this is that it is a 2 hour and 50-minute cycle!!!! So much for saving on electricity. On their website it says “Save up to 50% on electricity. All Miele Dishwashers can be connected to a hot water connection at a temperature of up to 150°F. This reduces electricity consumption by up to 50% and running times by up to 10%. In the Economy program, the energy consumption of the dishwasher drops to as little as 0.45 kWh.” If I ran it on economy my dishes would be so dirty! The dishwasher also condensates or leaks water under my cabinet and drips onto the floor leaving a puddle. Not to mention it drips on the electronic panel. I imagine there is a failure waiting to happen there. On the same side it drips it also build up all the gunk on the inside of the door panel. It is weird and I have no clue how this is happening. I keep cleaning it off and the next day it is back again after a cycle of dishes. I have pictures and video of everything I am explaining. Lastly, I have a horrible rattle when the dishwasher first starts. We had a working KitchenAid before we thought we were “upgrading” to a Miele. We now wish we had never got rid of the KitchenAid. We have a Miele vacuum and have been happy. Miele is supposed to be the best of the best. Sad to say that after our experience with the dish washer we will never buy a Miele product again. To say I hate this dishwasher is an understatement! I’m ready to “office space” it! After I wrote a review awhile back a manager had contacted me and had someone come out to try to “fix” it. However, nothing was ever fixed. In fact, after inspecting under my sink recently I have noticed that the water line is connected to the cold water. It should be connected to the hot water, per their website. I have reached out recently but no one has returned my emails/calls.
