How do you clean satin nickel shower head
Comments (5)must clarify I do not have nickel fixtures yet installing tomorrow. I don't know if I would soak the whole thing just in case as I just opened the kitchen tap box and it says don't use corrosive cleaners I would still use CLR but carefully. Hope I didn't lead you too far astray....See MoreMarble for shower floor and walls - how to clean?
Comments (2)You would want something that is made for or says "safe to use on" marble and stone. John Koessler over on the John Bridge forum (a tiler and also a rep for STT products) recommended STT's cleaners EZCLN and HDCLN for my marble, stone and tile--I'd called him to discuss and order their sealer and we discussed cleaners as well (I'd run out of SCI's Marbalex, which we had been using, and can't find it locally any more--if I had to mail order something anyway, it was worth trying the STT cleaners since I was already ordering from him). My Thassos mosaic in the MB is in the process of being installed, so I haven't used anything on it yet! I can say, that I tried the HDCLN on my discolored grout/glass tile backsplash in my kitchen (just above the vent trim at the back of the range), and it worked very well--faster and easier than using OxyClean. I had called STT directly a couple of months ago while I was doing my HW/research on sealers (hated the stuff we'd used in the guest-bath), and spoke with Steven, the owner of STT. Really nice guy (as is John, BTW), and passionate about their products; their effectiveness and safety, etc. Patient, too! Both men have answered my numerous questions and gave me tons of info about the products, their uses, and any other marble and stone questions I had. I'll let you know how well the cleaner(s) work on the marble when I get to start using the MB!...See MoreCleaning a Disgusting House
Comments (32)Thanks for the kind words! Yes, this is in Florida on the sw coast, a mile from the Gulf just about a mile north of the island of Venice. It is a seasonal rental property so if you know anybody who wants to vacation here this winter, let me know!! I've put a link to the website about it below. I've since upgraded the appliances and gotten some new furnishings so it looks even nicer now. I also had to get a new a/c system and do some additional plumbing repairs, so the thing is still costing me $. But it's a great house and I'm happy to have it. One benefit I forgot to mention from the original pictures. If you notice there were a lot of used red bricks around the unfinished house fashioned as ersatz-planters. I saved all of these bricks in a big pile and was able to find enough to make a really nice hexagonal shaped brick patio at my house which I've enjoyed every single day since I put it in four years ago. It's so interesting reading my original posts. Now in retrospect I can't believe I was brave and or crazy enough to tackle the project. Comments (3)Just "discovered" the Atlas Nitrile 370 Touch gloves (here is a link to show you what I am talking about; ignore the price, you can get them cheaper elsewhere.) My brother uses them and recommended them to me. They are probably the best gloves I have ever tried for general gardening tasks - weeding, pruning, digging and such, though you need something more protective if you are working on thorny things, lol. You can even tie your shoes when wearing the gloves because your sense of touch remains that sensitive despite the extra layer between you and the lace. And, another important plus, they are very easy to clean. I hand wash them in my sink, using liquid dishwashing soap, just so they will be ready for the next day, but they can be thrown in the washing machine as well if you have a load of laundry ready to be washed. I hang them to drip dry; it doesn't take long. They are offered at the local nursery that I frequent, too, so other gardeners have obviously "discovered" them as well. I may have to buy a case so I don't run out of them in my lifetime, should the manufacturer inexplicably decide to discontinue them, as seems to happen when you find something wonderful - I only have one extra pair right now.
