Your Blue one is so darn pretty. I love your new blue & white print tablecloth with everything and Jaybird's pitcher looks perfect with your gorgeous rooster. That plate is lovely. Is it an old/vintage pattern?

As for your purple tablescape . . . ahhhhhh! Love, love, love your new glass dishes. Placing them on that lace topper really gives it such a romantic look. Your cute purple bunnies and tea cup tea light add even more to your pretty table.

Thank you all so much, I still can't believe I got the nerve to post tablesetting photos. LOL. When I was doing the post, I kept thinking "please don't let Kathleen, DiningDelight, or Judith" see this. LOL. Our sweet and wonderful Tablesetting-Photography Queens just intimidate the heck out of me. (in a NICE way of course. I love them and admire them so much). For that matter, all of you do really wonderful tablescapes and have such a knack for it, and for me its a total struggle and challenge!
I got lucky with some stuff, cause I don't have that much in the way of table accessories like most of you do.
I have decorative stuff, but not the basics. Last year I tried to buy a FEW things like some place mats, chargers, cloth napkins, even a few white plates. LOL. But no sets, just one or two of each thing in hopes of getting brave enough to play dishes with you guys.

Jaybird's pitcher reminded me I had that tablecloth, tho I forgot I had a blue mat, LOL. I thought they'd would be good with my Rooster and plate. (by the way, the Rooster dinnerware seems next to impossible to find. I'd read it use to be at Montgomery Ward and Country Door catalog in early 2000. I'd LOVE to find the cup and saucer just to have! The soup tureen is fantastic, its on eBay now
selling for around $100. Gulp! Anyway, pattern is called William James Farmyard.)

On the purple set,I was going to try a white napkin but found that colored ONE I had in my 'Dish Wish' drawer, and was so surprised at how it matched the colors in the egg basket. Yay, I got lucky in spite of myself! The purple dish set gave me fits. It came with 3 plates (10, 8, 6"), the goblet and bowl. I used two of the plates but you can't see the 8" one at all. It worked with the napkin between the two plates, but then most of the pretty napkin was covered up. So I had NO clue what to do in case like that. This is where I feel so dumb at what to use or do.
It looks better in person cause then you can see both plates, but photo I don't like how little bowl seems to sitting on a big plate.

Anyway, maybe someday I'll get it all figured out...with a LOT of help from you guys. Is there a book "Dishes for Dummies 101"?
Please, Please, if you have ANY advice or suggestions, I want it. You can't hurt my feelings, I promise!

Karen, I'm with you, I have no natural talent for any of this, I fumble along too but it's fun & who cares, at least we are trying & doing much better than we used to before this forum!

I'll be sure to watch for those dishes at sales this year & also napkins & other accessories for you.

I also got a lace runner and two lace placemats. Luvs sent me a pair of gorgeous burgundy napkins last year. I have white and beige (two of each, LOL). Any tablesettings I do will never involve more than ONE or TWO, and they'd just be for my Invisible Friends (here). If you knew my two guys, Dad and DH, you'd understand why not for them! LOL

Funny story about the pretty beige and sage-y floral napkin with the purple plates. After doing nothing the last year, I'd given up on myself for even trying! So I wasn't going to buy more stuff to NOT use.
(but you're so right about us trying and doing better than we could have pre-Forum days, Thanks, I feel better).
A few weeks ago I stopped in a new thrift shop and was looking at everything. I passed a bin of cloth napkins and really liked the colors in this one. They had 4, but priced separately as all their napkins were. I picked up just one and when I went to pay, the lady asked me if I was sure I only wanted A napkin. The look on her face nearly made me laugh out loud. I just smiled and said "there's only one of me".
I really should have bought a pair tho, LOL. Maybe I'll go back and see if another is still there.

My 'new' antique sideboard has now become my Dish Wish cabinet, holding my few little necessary accessories to play with. My little secret as the family already thinks I've lost my marbles. I should be embarrassed to even admit this stuff to you guys, but I'm not. I never had ANY interest in dishes or table-settings till I came here.
Its a shame my grandmothers couldn't corral me and teach me some of this stuff. LOL. But they literally couldn't keep me IN the house, unless I was reading. Total Tomboy!

I know DD will love that "B", I certainly do. That is the cutest tablecloth, but how weird, horses, deer and roosters??? However, it is the perfect backdrop for you beautiful table setting. You did a great job on both. The veterans here sure make it easy with all thier inspiring posts. Those purple bunnies are adorable and that teacup candle is a great idea. I still don't see how you can only buy one of anything, I guess I'm just obsessive compulsive when it comes to buying things in uneven numbers. You've outdone yourself, great job.

Oh, Karen. You did such a great job. Both the settings are put together so very well. What I like about them is, that they are completely different from one another. You didn't just do a blue tablescape and then turn around and repeat it in another color. Both use different centerpieces and have different "textures". You are good at this and we all hope you'll continue to join in.

I love the little, round purple bunnies. How perfect for you. I know what you mean when you complain about the photography. It's so hard to get a decent shot of things. Makes a person almost give up on the posting, as no matter how nice the setting is in real life, it's not nearly as attractive in the picture. We need to hire a tutor.

I was a total Tom Boy too! So glad, for our granddaughters' sakes, that that expression is one known mostly by our generation. My granddaughters play soccer with the ferociousness of a couple of Bengal tigers. And it's good to know that they can continue to play that way without jeopardizing their feminine side. I know you and I took some teasing about our love for the rougher side of life.

Hey, for a minute there you had me worried! LOL I was so relieved to see it was your tablesetting that was blue! Cause you have no reason to *feel* blue when you can create such pretty-ness!

Of course I'm mad (crazy) about the blue! It was my first love in dishes and still a fav. Everything in the blue setting is lovely - even the tablecloth which is different but nice. I really love the plate.

Now your purple is a real surprise for me as, while I've always loved the color, would never have thot to do an entire table with it but it's drop-dead gorgeous. Everything is perfect. I started collecting strings of pearls as I find them at YS as they do add to a display but don't have too many colors yet. The purple is sooo pretty.

Karen, I think you're well on your way to being *very* good at this. Don't be shy about showing what you can do. I know there is much for me to learn from the experts here as well but there are many ways of arranging things and really no right or wrong. Maybe just good, better, and best and I know with practice we can improve.

OA, you are right about the generation change. My DD was, and is, a combination like yours. But in 'our day', you were one or the other. I loved playing football too, my Dad would throw passes to me when I was young right up thru jr high. LOL. He never cared I wasn't girly but my poor grandmothers worried silly about it. I had more boy FRIENDS than I did girl friends, LOL.

Even my three kids were born on uneven days (3-7-13), LOL.

LG, I'm hoping the purple table worked because of the touches of green and beige in napkins, eggs, and candle-ring. Same with the blue and the touch of pale yellow in the flowers. Maybe I have picked up a few things here afterall, cause I did this without a lot of thought first.

Today I'm thinking maybe it was FUN afterall, LOL.

When I want to use my glass dishes and they "fade" into each other, I have been known to one of those lacy paper doilies between them. You can get them at the (20)Dollar Tree :^)

Karen, what a great title for your post and I too love all your beaituful things. First the B for Bunny for DD is so neat. The blue table with your new pitcher and dish photo shots are great! Did you do your special effects is see if you like that? I think it would be beautiful. Maybe in your spare time you can try it and post for us to see.haha

Love your new purple dishes too with your tablescape you set. It all went together like a professional set it!!! Your story about one napkin is so funny and I'll bet the clerk felt silly after asking. Knowing you, you laughed all the way home. Your one napkin goes so well with your dishes you probably should of bought all of them so when you buy more dish sets you'll have the napkins to go with them.LOL

This was great to see and hope your feeling "Blue" again and show us more. To bad the plates are hard to find, they are beautiful. Did you put the rooster plate on a white plate or is that the edge of the rooster plate? I hope you put these in the Holiday albums as well as personal....
