I think you had a fun day with your new bargains. I don't think $1 is to much for your placemats or you wouldn't of bought them.LOL Love the blue Delft plates and your cups and saucers are wonderful.

Pretty fork and I would of never thought to look at what brand it was. Was there only 1 fork at this sale? Thanks so much for sharing all your goodies and can hardly wait to see what else you got.

I like making myself a cup of tea 'for me' and using a pretty cup...yours are perfect for that.
Too bad there was only just one fork...the pattern is lovely.
Now my favorite is your Delft Plates...LOVE those.

I love it all especially the Delft plates!! I love anything blue & white in way of plates. The placemats are so cute DIL would love them! I'd like that teacup set with the flowers, love lavender & purple! Folk is perfect for chris-crossing peanut butter cookies, it has perfect tines for it. Jan

Thanks Punk, Jeanne, Jane, Jan, and Luvs - hope I don't bore you all to tears with my YS finds! It's now the season altho I do need to be very selective with what I buy this year as I have way too much stuff and no more storage space. DH agrees we need to add even more cupboards to our kitchen so I think that will be one thing we'll eventually do.

Punk, you are right, I never looked at it like that - obviously not too expensive or I wouldn't have bot them. There was a box of utensils, mostly stainless, altho I was only looking for silver as already have some stainless I haven't yet used for crafts. I prefer silver of course and always look for the pattern on the back of the piece altho not all have that and if not I look it up. There's a website that I'll post with a lot of the vintage silver patterns. Apparently having mismatched sets of silver is a current trend I've read about on blogs. Some stores are even selling new sets that don't match. Interesting idea.

Jeanne, I do usually say yard sale altho GS is also appropriate of course. I actually bot the placemats at a MS - moving sale which was in a house! :-D Whatever they are called they are a great source for interesting low cost treasures.

Jane, I do think the place mats may be 'older' and the seller was from Europe so they may be from there. Possibly the Delft plates were bot there also. I also have occasionally used bone china cups for my tea break. I also use old silver trays to serve it on and a doily when I really want to go 'all out'. Fun! I agree this is really a nice pattern and it would be nice to find more altho I don't hold out hope.

Jan, I had found the 'big brother' to these 2 little plates at a sale 2 years ago when we were traveling so I had to grab them immediately. I now need to figure out a wall arrangement with them. The violet teacup was another thing I latched onto as I have the same one packed away that was a shower gift so many decades ago. Eventually when I figure out how to display them all I'll put them together.

Luvs, my motto is "I never saw a plate I disliked";-D and do have a lot of orphan plates. Always nice to find sets tho. DH and I have lots of fun shopping at YS. He finds things like tools, fencers, and fishing stuff.

LOL. You did good!! Especially that beautiful little flowered cup and saucer. I have the hardest time resisting those when at the antique mall. So far I've only bought one. I don't need another collection, but those beautiful ones like yours just is soooo appealing. I can't believe you only paid a dollar for that lavender flowered one..and it matches one you already have. WOW. That's terrific.

What a great variety of good "stuff"! Love all of them...still a little early here for yard sales, but I still like looking at other people's loot!

LG, with those prices, how can you resist. Those teacups were a steal. I have collection that my GM started, but I hardly ever add to it anymore. Those will make great bird feeders. Those placemats are so sweet, I love vintage linens. And the plates are classics. Don't you just love the thrill of a good YS. I hope you can find room for all your treasures.

Karen, I know you will love yard saling when you start! IKWYM about shyness as I was a very shy child. Somewhere along the way I got over it and if I knew how I would tell you. I think it's that one step at a time thing and sometimes I ask myself "what is the worst thing that can happen if I do this?" and usually decide it's worth a try. I now actually look forward to interacting with the people holding the sale as many are having fun seeing their unwanted items going to new homes. If you had a little dog to bring with you it would be a really good icebreaker! We sometimes carry ours around when it's too hot to leave her in the truck and people always smile and seem even friendlier.

Marlene, YS are just starting here and there were 3 on Saturday altho at the height of the 'season' there may be 12-20 in this rural area. When we lived in the city and bot for resale we would go to more than 40 and pick the best areas.

Syble, I'm always amazed at the prices of some things and many people don't want china cups that don't go in the dishwasher. I have dozens that were gifts 'back when' and I know they are $10-$20 at antique shops. I pay $1-2 each at YS but not more.

Lynn, wishing you good yard sale shopping - best place IMO for good deals.

Karen, pretend when you go to a ys that you are going to someones home that you like and strike up a conversation about something they are selling and I'm sure that will make it easier for you. However, you will need to cut the conversation short if they want to visit to much or you won't make it to any other sales.lol

Most people having sales want to visit and you know they are going to be there for hours so it's not hard to break the ice.
