TS and Yard Sale Finds-but not for me

Greetings All...
I have been lurking on this forum forever but thought I'd post something that has come up for several times for me.

What do you do when you come across 'finds' that you know others (on forums like this, not personally) would love to have but you have no interest or need for...do you feel bad or kind of guilty?

I do a lot of crafting but none of my friends do....

I come across a lot of stuff, reasonably priced, that it sounds like people on this forum would love.

Maybe it's because the projects people love to do are not that popular where I live (Minnesota is not a garden crafty kind of place-probably because of the intense winters).

What is prompting this is that I went to a Garage Sale today and someone had at least 20 of the most beautiful blue bottles I have ever seen at 25 cents each.

I don't do bottle trees-I think they're pretty but just not something I'm interested in...I would have no use for these bottles, as lovely as they are, and have to reign in what I buy because I am one step away from being on an episode of 'Hoarders'.

So how do other people feel when they come across items that they wouldn't want themselves but they know there are others out there, somewhere, that would love them?

Sorry if this is a bit awkward-I'm trying to type with a cat on my shoulders, purring in my ear and my Min-Pin curled up in my lap snoring away....

I used to do that- purchase all sorts of things for others. They graciously accepted them, but I really don't know if they wanted it or not.
I have finally come to the place where I feel that the right person will get the 'item'- if it's at a garage sale, like the blue bottles- the person behind me, or maybe in a few hours will stumble on them and be estatic to buy them!
or if they end up at a thrift shop- again, the right person will find them.
it has allowed a lot of peace to enter my life!

belle, I think it is great that you see things that others may enjoy but you are probably right in not wanting to clutter up your life any more. I disagree with you that Minnesota is not a garden crafty place....I see the coolest garden junk all over this area (I live just east in Wisconsin). Our winters add a whole new element to the stuff especially with new fallen snow!

Great stuff! I like that rustic basket and the rake head. Your blue pitcher would make a gorgeous vase. The color would compliment any flower. I like that pear too ... it would make a great totem topper.

You got some pretty cool stuff!! My DH would be ga-ga over that lantern, for sure! Great idea for the cast iron pot too! It's enough to get a person addicted, isn't it? My DH is starting to get the hang of it now, as well. Sometimes he gives me that "you're crazy, woman" look until I show him pictures of what people have made. THEN, he's right in there with me. I love seeing other people's finds!

HAHA Luvs. We had to get a dumpster, the transfer station here won't take any wood, and you have to gift wrap most other stuff to get rid of it. Everything has to be placed in special bags that are 3.00 a bag! So when you have a lot of stuff, you have to get a dumpster. And yes, I am sure I am throwing out things that people would buy at a yard sale, but I don't like having yard sales. They are a lot of work! I guess we will be picking up speed now that Labor Day is over. Still a beau beach day today and the rest of the week too. Hard to think about fall, still feels like summer!

sorry about that Leveta, but my mailbox is always full..lol not sure why.. I have to go in and delete a bunch of stuff and I have been pretty busy and keep going to do it and I forget.. I have been bidding on a wedding dress that has a lot of pearls and beads on it with the hopes of takeing them off the dress and use them on other things.. there are a ton of them on the dress and so I have to watch the bidding so It does not get away from me.. then I just remembered that I have to help a girl I went to school with , with a vounteers luncheon.. so now I am in a pickle to as when I would be able to pick up the dress. LOl just to much going on in my life..Grandson's birthday, friends birthdays, Derby parties at my neices. Garden needs to have more veggies planted in it.. whew I need a twin.. I did bid on some yard lattice for my daughter to put in her yard and going to pick it up tonight.. my son in law is going to meet me .. Thank God.. not sure if I could have gotten that by myself..LOL she has such a pretty yard and I knew she wanted the lattice and it was on my on line auction but she thought it was too high.. so I went ahead and bought it for her. cause I knew she and her sweet hubby will use it wisely in their yard.. So it has become a busy spring for me.. but I love it. Huggy

Belle I don't know what part of MN you live in, I also live in MN and LOVE LOVE LOVE blue glass. Not that I will use it in my garden, but I would in my house!

I get what you are saying, although I DO garden crafty stuff in my garden, I know a lot of people who don't. And I do plan to do a bottle tree in the garden, I have a whole collection of blue wine bottles saved for it. Just need to get he DH to help me put it together.
