Bertazzoni, GE Profile, GE Cafe or Electrolux Gas Range?
Comments (13)I am not sure how useful this will be. I replaced an electric smoothtop (I hate them!) in my house in Oregon with an Electrolux Wavetouch 5 burner dual fuel LP range. I only lived there full time for about a year with the range before relocating to Maine. Am not sure what the fascination with smooth tops, but I ended up with another one in the place I have purchased in Maine, its dual burner died after 4 months of use. I decided to replace it with the 30" all LP Berta range and am taking advantage of the hood promotion (BTW, they retail for $1,200). My place is heated with an LP based European type hydronic radiant heat units and a LP fireplace, so adding cooking should not tax my 300 gallon LP tank, LOL! I was looking for a range that is decidedly "manual" without an electronic interface due to the wind and subsequent power outages that are to common in this part of the state. I was also advised of service problems with the electronic interfaces on the Electroluxes, even though my range in Oregon has not had a service problem as of yet, knock on wood (am a reluctant landlord). Initially, I planned to purchase an Electrolux dual fuel floor model but could not pass up the hood promotion Bertazzoni is currently offering. I am only hoping when the range is installed, the oven temp will be adequately calibrated. I previously owned a Viking, but really did not want to spend the extra money for what I thought would be of marginal benefit. I also do not miss cleaning the Viking grates which were an exercise in weightlifting too! I visited friends of mine a few years ago in Europe and I believe they have a Berta (the knobs are pretty distinctive). I do about 70% rangetop and 30% oven cooking. My old Viking had gas convection and an infrared broiler and I really liked the oven and understand that the Berta is similar, though I believe the heat control is different (regulated by flame instead of on and off)....See MoreLg or ge profile electric range and otr microwave HELP
Comments (2)I bought the high end LG gas 30 inch gas non convection oven and the OTR matching microwave in 2008. My Advice don't by LG... unfortunately it is pretty garabage Microwave pad starting cutting off randomly and you have to open mircowave door to press the pad and hope that it works. Most often, when I boil a pot of spaghetti and run the vent at highest power, the pad cuts out again (I am assuming from the steam) and will not work again until mid morning next day... I asked LG for replacement... waste of time. the oven heat is uneven -hotter in the right front- have to constantly move pans and baking cakes is impossible, and the oven handle keeps coming loose and requires a special tool and guess what you have to pay for a $75.00 service call No more LG for me. I am moving next month and I am thrilled to be leaving them behind! I will never buy another product made in Korea or China....See MoreGE Profile slide in electric double range
Comments (3)IIRC, with a slide-in the cooktop is designed to sit ON the counter, though it should not be carrying any weight. Toast in the upper? Sure, but why would you? It would be an energy hog of a toaster....See MorePlease show me your GE Profile OR Cafe 30" double oven gas range
Comments (22)Here is the explanation I found on the GE website (the link to this is below so you can see the video). Also I looked through a couple of GE Café range manuals where they discussed the Control Lockout on 'some models,' but I suppose those manuals were written pre Summer 2013 because they showed it locking out burners as well. You may have to verify with GE Support about the specific model you are looking at. "Range - Explanation of the Lockout Feature The range Lockout feature allows the user to lock out all oven and surface burner operation. When locked, there can be no unintended oven or surface burner activation. Note: As of summer 2013, the control lockout button locks out the oven controls only, not the gas burners. To activate: 1.press Range Lockout pad 2.press Start To deactivate feature: repeat the steps listed above. If the power fails to the home while the range lockout feature is activated, the range lockout feature will remain activated once the power has been restored. The range lockout feature can also be activated while the surface burners are in use. Once range lockout has been activated the gas will stop flowing to the surface burners. The control panel will flash to remind you to turn the surface burner off. Caution: If the surface burner is left in the on position gas will flow once the range lockout feature has been deactivated. Note: Cooktops with control lock feature, when the lock is engaged and a burner is turned on, the cooktop will buzz and no gas will come out. View a short video about about the lockout feature.""
