The doll I used for Bo Peep is an Madame Alexander doll I got for Christmas in the late 1940's. My sister and I each got one for Birthdays and Christmas for several years. I don't know what her real name is. We didn't keep the boxes. [how foolish]

Luckily I didn't have to buy anything for this table, the ewes are from my Nativity and the little lambs are candle huggers that I use as napkin rings at Easter.

Oh Nana what a darling ts. Your doll for 'Little Bo Peep' is
perfect. What a neat cake plate too. Love the idea of using
the lamb candle huggers for the napkin rings! Great layering
on the dishes.

I'm such a pink person and this table made me Smile. Oh
I forgot to mention your doilie/placemats on the satin tc.
So reminds me of some DGM made years ago.Sweet

Actually I'm going to meet Felicity tomorrow She and her Mom and Dad live on the other side of the state. I can't wait to hold her!!

Brenda, nope I was born here but my Dad's from England and I have gone back and forth a few times. I lived there for a year after high school which is when I lived next to the sheep farm. I have an awful Manitoba accent. I have a couple of ideas for you: GREEK LAMB KLEFTIKO 2 lamb chops (I prefer shoulder chops for this) 2-1/2 Tbsp olive oil 1 medium clove of garlic, slivered salt & pepper 1/2 Tbsp dried oregano 1 Tbsp lemon juice Preheat oven to 400. Brush 2 pieces of foil (parchment paper is traditional but I use aluminum foil) with olive oil. Score meat and stud with slivered garlic. Sprinkle remaining ingredients over meat. Close foil over meat and roll edges tightly to seal. Bake in oven for 10 minutes, then reduce heat to 350 and cook 40 minutes more. Another good one is Scotch Broth Soup, I don't have a recipe but if you make soups you should be able to figure it out... lamb, turnip, pot barley, carrots, onions, salt & pepper, celery seed, bay leaf, rosemary. For those who don't have a friend with a farm, Superstore sells bags of frozen cubed lamb which is about 1/3 meat, 1/3 fat and 1/3 bone and it makes excellent soup. You have to boil it for several hours, pick out the bones, cool and skim the fat, and you have a great meaty stock to make soup or stew.

Ooooh Cheese - my favorite topic! I have made lots of different cheeses over the years, but concentrate mostly during the summer time on soft cheeses, such as chevre (a french style cream cheese), feta, crottins, and camemberts. When I first got into cheesemaking, I stuck with soft cheeses, figuring it would be too much trouble to make the hard textured cheeses, but, I changed my mind after a couple of years. I milk my goats "through", meaning I don't breed them every year because they are big milkers (l gallon or more a day), and I milk them right through their breeding season and have milk year round. I milked one of my Oberhasli's continuously for 4 years. Milking them through is a nice contiunous supply of milk for me especially in the winter. That is when I make hard texture cheeses, such as parmesan and romano. It takes 4 gallons of milk to make one wheel of the italian cheeses. It also takes 4-6 months for them to age properly. So, I make these cheeses in the winter and age them in my basement, and then they are available in the summer. It is very satisfying to have shelves of your own cheese aging in the basement or wherever. The best source of cheesemaking information is The Cheesemaker's Manual by Margaret P. Morris. She is from Canada, and I also buy all of my cheesemaking cultures from her as well. She is a VERY nice person, Very knowledgeable, and a great resource for reasonably priced cheesemaking supplies. She has a website at: glengarrycheesemaking.on.ca. I own just about every cheesemaking manual published and hers is definitely the best. I teach cheesemaking workshops occasionally, and I tell any new cheesemakers to pick one cheese you want to make and perfect that technique before you move on to another one. It is easy to jump in and want to make all kinds of cheeses at once, but it can get complicated. I tell new people that cheesemaking isn't really hard, it is somewhat time consuming in that you have to pay attention to temperatures and cultures and try to keep ahead of mold growth if you are aging cheeses. I have also been selling my cheeses at the local farmer's market in the summer for the past 8 years. It has been a nice source of revenue for me as it helps pay the grain bill. I have also educated the northern portion of our city on the finer aspects of good goat cheese. Most people turn up their noses and tell me some horrible story about goat cheese they had that was awful. I usually tell them that most imported goat cheeses are fairly strong in taste and smell - but - fresh cheese is absolutely wonderful. I always have samples out for people to try and they love it (most of them anyway). I started out making cheese using goat's milk and vinegar to curdle the milk. It is an easy recipe, but after a while I couldn't stand the flavor. Making chevre is SOOOOOo easy and it is sooooo good and versatile that I was sold.

Several things I don't agree with. First, never put water in your radiator, especially in the winter. Carry antifreeze. A frozen radiator can leave you stranded. In an emergency in the summer, water will work temporarily but be sure to change it asap. A white rag won't be seen in a snowstorm. Blaze orange, red, neon green, something colorful that will catch an eye. Run your car engine, but be sure to clean out by the exhaust pipe. Burning a candle in the vehicle will burn oxygen too so you're back to needing ventilation depending on how tight your vehicle is. While we hope a plow or cop will help, let's not forget recently when Old Joyful was stuck and the plow drove by and ignored him. And I remember a time about 25 years ago some friends and I were going to Rochester in the winter. Yes, the weather was bad and we shouldn't have been out but I was riding with them and we were caravaning with some other friends. Well we got into a bad storm. People getting stuck and with little clearance on their car, we too got stuck. A highway patrol came from the opposite direction and yelled out the window "well you're gonna have to get yourselves out - you shouldn't even have been out today!" Gee thanks. To protect and serve yourself? Unfortunately we get a little overconfident. We start to think we're invincible and can trek out and be OK. All too often we underdress for the weather and just think that we can't break down, get stuck, have an accident or whatever. I keep telling people that with cell phones as cheap as they are now, there's no excuse for not having one. $3-$5 a month is certainly worth it for the peace of mind. And people who drive and have cell phones and no car chargers should be locked up and treated for terminal stoopid. Of course these are all referenced toward the northern climates. Keep a blanket or two, maybe a sleeping bag, some extra clothes in the vehicle. At least if you underdress you can compensate. Carry a shovel, jumper cables, antifreeze, window wash fluid (preferably the de-icer type) and the emergency kit items. A tow strap or chain, maybe even a comealong, an empty gas can can be good, a full one better. I carry a battery charger and extension cords. Of course a good snow scraper/brush or 2 and tire chains aren't a bad idea either, but you need to know how to use them. These are more for the local travel, if you're going a distance there's the other things to consider. This year has been a cold year here compared to many of the last years. Not record setting but more toward normal and a lot of below zero and breezy times. The best thing to carry is a rare commodity these days. Common sense.

What a lovely flock! You have a good mix of poultry, but do keep the ducks separate from the chickens. Ducks require and generate humidity that can be detrimental to chickens. We have Black Australorps--a great laying hen, very gentle, big, and can take the Texas heat. Each has a name and a personality (although I seem to be the only one that can tell them apart) and are pets that give eggs, big eggs! Your leghorn will be aggressive--it's in the breed. He will not only be aggressive to you, but will be hard on the hens. He will develop spurs as he matures, and he can really do damage with spurs and beak. You may want to keep him isolated and penned. Chicken tractors are great! I have a three-hen tractor that I carry my girls to and let them forage in the morning. It's hard to remember which girls went yesterday and which ones get the tractor today! I may have to resort to post-it notes. Chickens are a stitch to watch. Try giving them cherry tomatoes--they end up looking like Boppo the Clown with a big red nose!

but the dishes you used in each place setting is just so pretty... love the pinks & the little flower motifs.

I think that this might be the sweetest table I've ever seen! Love the soft pinks! And your Bo Peep is perfect with her sheep....they are so adorable. You even have them as napkin holders...how cute is that?! Love the crocheted table toppers too! Everything is perfect for welcoming Spring! Now...if it will just cooperate!

I totally agree with what the others said about this sweet, sweet table.
I think you need to repeat it when little Miss Felicity is about 3 yrs old, and you can have tea and sandwiches there with her! It would be perfect and she'd love it.

I am picturing you holding her.....
and you not wanting to let go or give her back. LOL.
Wish someone would get a photo for us here of you and her! I would love to see that!

Hi everyone, I'm back I had a wonderful visit. Felicity is such a good baby and just adorable.

The only reason I wish I had the boxes is because the dolls names were on them.

Marlene thank you I really love pastels and I think Spring is finally on it's way.
Karen I had all I could do not to hide her in my jacket and bring her home with me.
My DD wants to put the pictures of the table in Felicity" baby book.
It will be fun to do the table again when Felicity and Caroline are older and have a Tea Party little girls love them ~~~so do we big girls.
I'll be back to comment on the posts I missed later on i had cataract surgery yesterday and my eye is getting tired now.

Nana, so nice to hear your back and enjoyed your
vacation. Pictures are always nice and Felicity will
treasure this table forever if it's in her baby book. A
tea party with the girls one day sounds fun. Those
little ones grow up so fast. I know you have a darling
tea set to share w/them.

Hope your cataract surgery is successful and you
find relief soon. We had DGD all week and it was so
fun. I offered to keep her all next week too while she's
off for Spring Break.
