hard water marks on shower tile

Can anyone help me with my shower tile problem. I just bought my house and I have dark brown tile in my master shower. There are white hard water marked on the tile that I CANNOT get off. I have tried CLR, Hard water cleaner, even tried using my wall paper steamer-nothing worked. Any ideas? We are installing a water softner, but need help with what damage is already done. Thanks

A plastic scrubber....vinegar and lots of hard work!

I was successful with using a product like Clean Shower. Use it after each shower for a few weeks. You need to be patient, but eventually it will soften that crud so that you can scrub it off more easily. Also, if you can find it, there is a product called Edfred Shower Stall and Tile Cleaner. It contains phosphoric acid, and works wonders on hard water deposits.

I tried every suggestion in this post and nothing worked for me. I live in New Hampshire and it makes sense stains will be different depending on where you live. Finally, I found the solution ...a pumice stone. There are several brands available online. I found this one in my local grocery and hardware store, and it's pretty inexpensive. Just use with water ..it didn't take a lot of muscle....just a little patience but it worked beautifully. I had gone so far as to get a quote for replacement shower doors and stumbled on this product just before I was ready to place the order. So glad I tried it because new doors were more than $800. Just wanted to share in case it helps someone else!

I have an all glass shower with glass mosiac running down the wall and through the floor. I do have soap build up on the mosaic right now, (haven't take the time to clean it) I can't see it on the white glass tiles. Those are 24x24. The shower doors even tho they are sqeegied 90% of the time do get a soap build up towards the bottom. I find that Kaboom sprayed and allowed to sit for a min or two cleans then a scrub of a light brush and it cleans right up. I will add, consider using a similar grout color to the gray sub tile unless you want to see that much detail. I used a similar color around my mosaics and it looks really good it lets the tile stand out rather then celebrating the grout.

Beautiful shower. Perhaps they are flawed tiles that fall within the range of acceptable to the manufacturer. (I'm suggesting this based on an ad I heard from a local bath company that says they sort through the tiles and remove the ones that are acceptable to the manufacturer but not to them.) Personally, I could live with those imperfections. But if this is going to bother you endlessly, you could have the two tiles replaced. I'm not sure the grout will then be as picture perfect as it is now, though.
