Help Cleaning Stainless Cooktop!
Comments (3)I've never used comet on my stainless cooktop, but it doesn't scratch my stainless pots that I have used it on. I might be willing to try it in a back corner of the stove, especially if you make sure to only scrub in the same direction as the brushed finished (mine's brushed and looks like it has a 'grain', don't know if yours is). If there's burnt on gunk in a spot that can be soaked, I'd make a little puddle of hot water on it and sprinkle on some baking soda and let is sit for a while. For other areas, maybe wrap in a wet towel to let it "soak". This should make any caked on areas easy to wipe up. I have successfully removed some burnt on grease spots near the burners with a baking soda paste - they didn't all come off, but most did....See MoreHelp! Charred coffee pot!
Comments (14)I feel for you. I did the same thing, except mine was my electric tea kettle. I had just had a call from a friend who was wanting to move back here from NC, and she was so unhappy and in pain. After I hung up I was in tears and I just had to have some hot tea. Without thinking, I filled the kettle and instead of plugging it in, I put it on the stove and turned the burner on. Yep, burned it up, completely. I hadn't had it long, and got another one just like it. My friend was never able to get things worked out to move back here, and she died three weeks ago. I hope you get your pot cleaned; probably you wouldn't be able to replace it. Sue...See MoreHow to clean an aluminum coffee pot

(My pot, whether the one that stays in the kitchen or the one that goes with me wherever I go, isn't large enough ... or dirty enough ... to have caused me to develop a smidgeon of useful information ... ... now ... if I could contact some ladies with experience using the large coffemaker at the church ... ... if only I can remember for the next time that I see them! ... but ... so much to do ... and so little time! Comments (12)Meant a very thin coating of oil on the blade before cutting. Oil and very mild abrasive like baking soda probably would work to help after cutting too. I would use nitrile gloves... Spent enough time with solvents that I hate drying the heck out if my skin. Does a razor blade work to remove the layer of sap? After using crazy chemicals in my ovens for years, I truly found the best method is razor blades and no crazy cleaners. Degreasers / thin solvents only work so well and plant sap doesn't seem to dissolve in them much anyway. In my experience at least. Heating is a bad idea because you ruin the blade temper....See Morebrooklyn45
