Help Cleaning Stainless Cooktop!

I was sick for almost a week and Dh was assigned cooking duty. When I emerged out of the sick fog, I discovered that a tornado had just struck the inside of my house . . . oh, wait, that was just my dear hubby and little kiddos. :-)

One of the casualties was our 6-month old Windcrest Stainless gas cooktop. It has removable top grates over the stainless steel tray.

You can see a pic here:

Problem is Dh spilled food that is now crusted on the stainless steel bottom tray. The gas areas also look very dirty - baked on grease I think (what was he cooking!?) I'm a big fan of Bar Keeper's Friend. However I've had no luck even when I make a paste and use my microfiber cloth on it.

Any suggestions on how I might get the cooktop gleaming again?
