Sounds like it is a tight soil mix and will be prone to hold too much water or it is not gettig enough sun. I like to be able to water my jasmine at least twice a week this time of year, but again don't like to keep them wet. I like to water fully when I water so I want my plants to be dry when I water not wilting but the pot should be light then heavy after fully watered. You might consider poking some wire down through the soil to open some air space or giving it more direct sun or both. As for feeding soluble ferts should be fine. I am not much on the high bloom food types myself (high middle number). A 3-1-2 ratio to even ratio 1-1-1 should do well changing them up every month or so. You don't eat steak 3 times a day all year long neither do your plants if that makes any sense to you. Hope this gives you some ideas to work from but find out what works for you we all tend to do our own things and need to use others for ideas not dogma. Happy Growing David

Thanks Folks, for your kind remarks! Donna, this window faces east. It is my only east facing window. All other windows face south or north. As for pollinating, I just don't have the time. I'll let that up to you other intrepid hobbyists. I currently have over 300 Hippeastrum bulbs still "sleeping" in "cold storage" and almost 100 in various windows and in my plant room amoung nearly 100 South African amaryllids and about 2 dozen Worsleya procera. I have some exciting hybrid hippi seedlings from Maria that should bloom next year. So, I have reached my limit! Hans, I have to agree that Exotic Star is one of the finest H. papilio hybrids. My only complaint with it is its irritating 'excessive' phototropic habit. All its flowers try their best to face the sun! Here are a few more photos of the ever flowering winter window. Jim

It was a deep snowstorm but not a blizzard here. We had about 14-15 inches. Now, it very sunny, not too windy, and melting well--roads are in surprisingly good conditions considering it just occurred. Did nt exect to have this wet, heavy, sticky snow. There was a bit of damage to some of the magnolias but too bad--really clinging snow type. Needle is covered in snow, Trachys look okay. Was expecting the finer snow--this stuff is heavy! Was not really too cold during the night--upper 20's, now, only 30f. but not too bad in the sun. Now, the next issue the heavy rain expected Moday. Rain and temps into the 40's mean a potential for flooding. Someone say 'uncle' please!
