what do you keep in your linen closet...& how do you organize it?
Comments (31)You could actually do a couple different things. You could have one rod and use hangers. You would have to fold them a bit to fit on the hanger and not drag on the floor, but that's usually how they come from the cleaners. For heavy cloths, use two hangers together for added strength. You could also hang multiple rods at slightly different heights and depths. If you have a walk in closet this works great, but will still work with a reach in. Hang the highest rod the farthest back, then one a bit lower and closer and even a third lower and closer than the second. Then you can hang the cloths right on the rod instead of on a hanger. I like the rod because of it's larger diameter it doesn't leave creases in the cloths. You can also overlap them on these rods. For optimum use of space, you'd need to use multiple rods and overlap. Is that totally confusing?!...See MoreBlack appliances, white farmhouse sink?
Comments (4)Black and white not look good together? Sorry, that's just silly. Stick with your plan. It sounds nice. That said, some sinks do come in a very, very slightly creamy color (like the Shaw's biscuit) that is not "refrigerator white" that might blend a little better with a creamy paint. You'd probably only notice the difference between the white and the biscuit/bone/cream (whatever the company calls it) if the two were side by side. But if the company you like only makes it in white, go for it anyway....See MoreHow To Keep a Silestone Sink Looking Clean
Comments (14)I have a white Blanco sink. I called Blanco when I bought it and they told me to use Soft Scrub. I don't even have to scrub. I just put it in and wash it with the dishrag. Sometimes I use a green scrubby pad with it, if it's the black marks from pans or something. Never any issue with tomato stuff. Soft Scrub works great!...See More"Fluff" post: what do you keep by your kitchen sink?
Comments (35)I am definitely NOT a minimalist! In anything! A window is over my kitchen sink, there are a couple of folk art paper mache sculptures there, about 7 or 8 inches tall. A hen and rooster ceramic figurine that spent many years on my mother's kitchen window sill, a "Thank you Mom" mug my son gave me a couple of months ago, and some ivy cuttings rooting in a glass jar of water. I can see out, over these things, over the patio and into the back yard. The left portion of the sink has a dish drainer in it, there is one of those drying mats on the left counter, and the coffee pot is on that side, too. The end of the cabinet above the left counter has a wooden "A house is not a home without a dog" plaque my sister made for me many years ago. The right side is where I stack the dirty dishes after a meal. Farther over is a selection of often used various sizes of Ziplock plastic containers. The end of the upper cabinet on that side has a framed needlepoint sign, "Of all the things I've lost, I miss my mind the most." Wa-a-a-a-y too cluttered for most of y'all! I can admire pictures of beautiful uncluttered kitchens (or any room), but I would not be comfortable or happy living in one. Different strokes for different folks, right? Rusty...See Morewendyd
