You are all a clever lot as Nancy said! Four stars for everyone-Bobbie, TM, Nancy, and Annette, too, although she didn't get back, I am pretty sure from her first answer that she had it. I will include a quick link with the names of some women inventors. I wish my brain worked like that! Not surprised that a woman invented the water heater, Bobbie. Nothing worse than a cold shower! Yes, TM, I am with you! Bobbie, I love the cloth diapers as dish towels, too. No lint-perfect for windows and all! For babies, I went with disposable. Have a wonderful Sunday all. Laura, we miss you! Today, if I can get my back and knees to cooperate, I am in for more weeding. I plan a trip to another nursery first, though. Would like to get containers started and need to check out trees to replace the ones we lost. We are leaning toward at least one crabapple. I do love those. We'll see what is available. Always fun to look. Cynthia Here is a link that might be useful: 10 Inventions by Women

The wiper and washer LED's flashing typically means that the AC system either has a fault, or simply needs to be retrained. The Check engine light coming on could have been simply because the instrument cluster had stopped communicating with the PCM, or it could be because the PCM detected a fault and commanded it on. The only way to know is to start by polling ALL of the vehicle modules for trouble codes, recording them and evaluating the results of the codes that were set. If the PCM did not store any codes, then the afore mentioned, loss of communication was the reason the lamp was on. Now the gages flat-lining. An instrument cluster "re-set" could do that if it was fairly quick in nature, say less than two seconds. In other words, the gages went to zero, paused, and then resumed operation. If the cluster was down longer than that it suggests again, a loss of communication between the cluster and the other modules (computers) in the car. A common reason for this is the loss of the instrument cluster ground connection because of a bad solder joint where the vehicle wiring harness connects to the cluster. This is something that MUST be proven before any repair attempt is made. A trained technician knows how to to do this. Anyone that simply starts throwing parts, such as the instrument cluster, the BCM, or the PCM is not considered a trained technician at this level. JMHO I would suggest seek out an electronics specialist in your area VIA a member search through the iATN. Here is a link that might be useful: The international Automotive Technicians Network

This is an interesting set of circumstances, but how can anyone make a reasonable guess if they do not know what they are dealing with? For example, is this a car old enough o be a collector's item or is just a 12 yr old car with gremlins in its electrical system? So what make, model, engine and year? Likely, your rear wipers are operated by a circuit board that contains a "pulse wipe"/ delay function. That could be misbehaving. But you'd think the wiper should shut down if its control switch (on the dash or steering column) was turned off. This is a concern if this thing is taking off on its own. If the control switch is on a stalk on the steering column, the driver may inadvertently activate it. An engine with fuel injectors may occassionally sputter if there is a load of old fuel in the gas tank. If the car has sat for 2 to 3 months with a load of fuel with 10% alcohol, the alcohol attract moisture and may have absorbed enough water to degrade the fuel. A fresh tank of gasoline can alleviate this problem. However, if the trouble is electrical, then other measures must be employed. I can think of problems with an old fashioned distributor with points, but I am betting your car does not have such.

I'm so glad to find this forum where I can comment on washing machines, and hope someone can help me. I have bought 3 washing machines in the last 24 months and I'm going to have this last one hauled away to the dump and wash my clothes by hand. My first washer was a high end Maytag, and after a few months, all of my white sheets, towels, and anything light, started having these yellow and rust color dots. To make a long story short, I found out that the lid was getting rusted and when the machine was agitating, rust particles were dropping in the wash and ruining everything. I talked to people where I bought the machine from , and he rudely told me that I didn't know how to measure bleach, and by using too much, I have ruined the washer, and there is nothing he can do for me. I have always used the same amount of bleach and probably have had 7 or 8 washing machines in my lifetime, and had never had any problem with any of them until they got too old and had to be replaced. I replaced the rusted washer with a whirlpool machine with all the bells and whistle, but it barely wetted the clothes to wash or rinse. I understood that the new machines use less water and I was all for that, but barely enough water for the wash to come out clean was not acceptable to me, and I was spending too much time adding more water to rinse the soap and dirt off of my wash. I finally gave up and contacted them and they said that many people have complained about that mode, and he suggests a high end G E washer that I can mostly control everything myself. They brought the G E machine, but no matter what setting I choose, it uses the same amount of water, regardless of the size of the load, and the setting of small, medium, large or extra large. It barely wets the wash, and I have a hose attached to the faucet of the sink in my laundry room, and spend a lot of time adding water to the tub. But that is not the biggest problem. Regardless of the size of the load, the type of things I'm washing, whether I'm washing sheets, towels, or anything else, it moves the wash to one side, and it starts making horrible noises, banging, moaning, pounding, and moving until I rearrange the wash. It does this at least 10 times per wash. Between standing next to it, adding water to the wash, rearranging the wash, I'm a slave to this washer. I might as well as do my laundry by hand. It is less stressful and I will get a work out also. The problem with that is that I only have one working shoulder. I really need help. I'm not choosy, I want a washing machine that uses enough water to get my laundry clean, and I don't have to rearrange the load constantly. Is there such a thing? Help!!
