Thrift store Snowman tablescape
Comments (13)Jeanne, the snowflakes are from Doll. Tr. and they start getting them in around August or Sept. If you wait until the actual holidays, they are gone! I also found the Santa hat chair covers there, and they hadn't actually put them out on the shelves yet. I never saw them on the shelves in any DT. I think everybody bought them as soon as they saw them! I had originally planned to use the green holly plates on top of the plaid Winter Bird plates, but they covered too much of the plaid, so I put them under the bowls. Luvs, the Mumm plates are the plaid plates and bowls. The Snowman plates are from the Country Santa Collection by Susan Winger, but just as soon as I don't want them any more, they're yours. Which should be sometime around the 12th of never, LOL Karen, as you know, shopping is my therapy and I need a lot of therapy!! Nana, the Snowman CP does have a Debbie Mumm tag. Lynne, I am planning on having Christmas put away by the end of today, although I am procrastinating by being on here! I am also putting out some Valentine decor as I put away the Christmas. Jane, I am a huge fan of plaid and amazingly, I found the table runner, placemats, tea towels and rugs all in that pattern at Big Lots many years ago. I don't think Big Lots has as many cool things any more. It seems like they have a lot of the same stuff other stores do now. Punk, the burgundy is a small part of the plaid and I thought the table needed that pop of color. So glad you agree! Marlene, thanks, I found 4 of those snowman goblets last year, and some more this year. All at the TS's cause I did't buy them when they were originally in the grocery store as $1 deals. Back then I hadn't found the enablers here, so didn't know I was going to "need" all of the dishes/glassware/flatware that I buy now! Kathleen, Thank you. Kath, I have left a lot of snowman decor up this year. It has helped me deal with putting away the Christmas decor, LOL. Thanks again ladies. You are such a wonderful and supportive group. Comments (18)Punk, you always have good ideas and I always enjoy hearing them! Your Christmas table idea sounds lovely and I'm definitely going to try it next December. I do have some smaller trees that would work well on the table with him. Thanks! Here's a close-up of the ground jewels painting. It's done on silk, BTW. I don't know much more about the process or why they use ground jewels to paint with. It sounds like waste of good jewels to me. My guess is that artists use the chips left behind when various jewels are cut, but that's only a guess. I've just tried googling "ground jewels+paint" and didn't find anything. Hi Twomonths, and welcome to our forum! I see from your GW page that you're originally a Texas gal now living with your family in SoCal. Your ideas are great. I actually have a box of slender brass candlesticks in varying heights somewhere around here. I hadn't even thought of them until you mentioned this . . . thank you! Hope you post here more often now :~) Lynn...See MoreWinter Olympics Opening Ceremony Place Settings
Comments (10)Wonderful OA! The Olympics are being held in our province and I haven't even thot about a tablesetting yet you live in CA and have done one on opening day! I'm impressed! We've been hearing so much about it on TV for so long that it's almost getting tiresome. In fact lately we've been watching the news on CNN more than on any Canadian news channels! We're quite a distance from the coast so won't be attending - I think traffic will be crazy altho I've heard Vancouver has cleaned up very well and it would be fun to see! I know I'm from the "frozen north" LOL but I had to google to find out what an Eskimo pie is! Dairy Queen has something similar as I've gotten them for the Grands but when we were kids we got Revels which I think are similar too. BTW Canada's northern first nations people are known as Inuit, not Eskimos. Love your tall cloche and the colors are so pretty! Thanks, I've enjoyed it....See MoreOur Halloween Table & More Finds
Comments (11)I can see Emily is really enjoying herself this Halloween. She did such a cute job on that centerpiece. Very original! I can see her being a member of our group here. lol I love all the birds you purchased. They're beautifully detailed. What a great find with that pinecone dish. Also, all your purchases at GW..I love the shape of those blue footed glasses.. Great price too. That hurts with your white serving dish. What luck to find another. They're very pretty. I would definitely epoxy the broken one and use it for something that's not liquid. I can't resist pretty napkins and you bought some pretty ones. Thanks for sharing everything with us Lynn...I enjoyed 'shopping with you today too' !! jane...See More- 14 years ago
