Oh wow!! A BIG THANK YOU to all of you!! I am so glad i did not dig it up now!! It is planted facing east up against the side of his house. There also seems to be white rock gravel over it that someone has put down through out the years that now is scattered. I am wondering now if i should try to get some of that up, or can i add a bit of mulch around it?? It sure has not been watered since i have been here (and he isnt able) so when i go out to water my plants, i will be sure to give it water since i will be planting a few things over there for him too. So is it normal that it hasnt bloomed for him in 5 years hes lived there?? Or could that be because of lack of water?? I will try the coffee thing as well. I recently planted two in my yard and it will be interesting to try for sure!! I have read that tea works for fertilizer somewhat too. I have mammoth ears in large pots and they were looking kind of funny so i had some unsweet tea that was going bad, and i dulited it with more water and poured it into the elephant ears and they are doing great now and even put out tons of new shoots. I have no clue as to what i am doing and i am learning much, i just cant wait to tell him today it is not a weed. I love the whiteish looking soild outline on the leaves of it. I put two different types of them in my yard and they dont have those pretty leaves like that. So i might ask him for a small start of it this fall to have one in my yard as well, and i figure if i do that it would be good to try and get some of those rocks out and maybe do the mulch if that would be better then the rocks. Any suggestions??

That usually means that the rosettes are water starved due to dead roots or stems. Your plant needs to have the rosettes beheaded in order to correct abnormal growth from inadequate light. Leave less than two inches of stem, then let he cut ends dry in air for a few days, then plant in dry porous soil, at least 75% inorganic materials like perlite, pumice, gravel etc. Your current soil looks terrible, mostly peat which should be avoided. It will take a few weeks for the cuttings to grow roots. Do not water until you see signs of growth. Give lots of light, your plant is etiolated, growing abnormally, making ID difficult. It's probably an Echeveria or Graptoveria, or a hybrid. Brad

The correct method to add new concrete onto set concrete is drill & epoxy rebars vertically with min 1" concrete cover on top of rebar. I would also have recomended a single horizontal rebar 1.5" above wire tied to the vertical rebars. A coating of hydroscopic epoxy is applied to the set concrete & whilst this epoxy is still wet (most of these epoxys have a working time of 45 - 60 minutes)the concrete is poured onto the wet epoxy. This concrete 'join' when set has a higher tensile strength than the concrete, it will never let go. I have done test pieces & later smashed apart & it never breaks at the join. These epoxys for joining new to old (set) concrete are readily available, they are refered to as hydroscopic epoxy as they will adhere or blend into the wet concrete. With regards to the steps rebars are probably not required, however I would have used the joining epoxy.

as wood rots or decays... mushrooms take advantage of the situation ... i consider it a free show from ma nature.. and revel in it ... it is very common.. when a tree is removed.. that for years after.. mushrooms or fungi show up in the lawn.. as the roots rot ... and there really isnt much you can do about it ... so you may as well learn to like it ... one thing for sure ... just to be careful ... if there are children around ... who happen to like mushrooms .. that they are taught all mushrooms come from the parental unit.. and not from the lawn ... most children are trainable ... lol ... ken
