A temperature swing like that in nature, about 20 degrees, is normal most places, most nights, and often a bigger gap than that. It's hard to say if your specific plants would like the same conditions as anyone else might describe though. The room where all of my plants spent the past few winters gets down to around 55 if it's really cold at night. Might get to 65 in the daytime. The last winter I was in OH, my plants lived in an unheated room that would get down to about 45 but had windows on 2 sides and was sunny and much warmer during the day. Wow we saved a lot of money when we realized what a sieve that room was and closed the vent and the door. MIL just staples plastic over the screen of her back porch and uses no additional heat except a light bulb if she thinks it's necessary at night. She has about 50 different plants but more actual pots, many identical to mine as we've traded about everything possible that either wanted. Last winter she had several Coleus stay alive in there, so we can be sure it didn't get to a frost in there although it dipped below that point outside many times. My neighbor who has plants that are older than I am uses an unheated shed that's a very dark color and does have some insulation and windows, so I'm sure warm and sunny in there by afternoon. She said she turns on a space heater on its' lowest setting on nights below 25. If you have some kind of risers or stands for any plants sitting directly on the floor, even a couple inches that would prevent the pots from making contact with the ground, which is usually much colder than the ambient room temperature, the plants might appreciate that. A room that's 68 might read 52 if you lay a thermometer right on the floor. You plants might get a lot of benefit running a little fan for a few minutes a couple times a day, or as much as you feel reasonable. In your room that doesn't get dry air from central heat/furnace, and having multiple plants, the humidity would not be as much of a concern for your room as one being kept 30-40-50- degrees warmer inside than out with a central system. It may be more humid in there than you think. It's definitely humid in here, condensation on the windows in the morning, we don't run the central heat.

What exactly does the UV cure? I bought one not fully knowing what I was clearing up! (Hell it ws on sale!) I'm on a major clean -up of my little preformed pond. It's about 6x8. We're going to start all over and do things right. We have a filter, a UV filter and a fountain to aerate the pond a bit. We're not ready for waterfalls yet (that's when I talk DH into a REAL pond! I would like to see a Carol Burnett marathon on some station. I'd be glued to my seat all day and night, and so would DH. The skits with Burnett, Conway, and Korman were priceless. And the time Carol basically dared a young man from the audience to come up and sing, and he did, and did a WONDERFUL job with "What I did for love." And the time Carol had Beverly Sills on the show, and sang with her. Chills! A locked chord whenever I hear it still gives chills! As a kid, we didn't have TV. But later, I remember George Goeble's gentle humor, and Tennessee Ernie, and Perry Como. Yes, I miss the variety shows. Who knows what we'd see if that format was brought back? I don't even want to think about it.

I used to babysit for a family that lived in an old "manor house" from the 1920s-very grand-all leaded glass windows-the little diamond ones with stained glass inserts here and there-dining room to seat 40, pool room with huge pool table and two walls of glass, butler's pantry larger than my mum's kitchen, main staircase just made for a bride to descend-second staircase up from the kitchen-and a library. Dark wood built-in shelves to the 12 ft. ceilings, pretty full of old and new books, slate floor covered with old orientals, a fireplace with huge slate surround to the ceiling, complete with some sort of escutcheon thingy above the mantle, large door at either end with two steps up, and one old squishy couch rejected from its former life in the sitting room. The family didn't like the room much-they were readers, but would pull a book and go elsewhere-they thought it was cold, and as the windows on either side of the fireplace faced north through trees, it was dark even in the daytime-but I couldn't wait to get the kids to sleep. I usually had homework to do, but I always curled up in there. I just wish it had been a gas-line fireplace, so I could have had the full experience!
