I fell off the wagon.... I feel soo ashamed!

Yes I was trying very hard to stay out of all stores and thrift stores!!!! I just can't go in and not buy something!!!

Well Dh had to go to Ashville for a job interview(please say prayers!) and since I had the day off cause I have to work this weekend... he invited me to go along and we could spend the day.. BAD MISTAKE!!! Before we left I googled all the ts in the area and the Pier1 too!!! Here's a photo of all the buys. The item I was looking for at Pier1 was no where to be seen..So I came out with this gold tree for $3.95 orig. $16..75% off.... Everything else from the ts's. Two glass jars to fill with orni's next year. Two old books for stacking... some blue glass and a pretty plate all totall $15.

PS... DD wrecked/flipped and totaled her car today!!! I was an hour away at work!!! She is very sore but that's all... This is the second bad accident she's had. My nerves are shot!!

omg..Bright..am so glad you're DD is okay ! I know exactly how your nerves feel.. my DS is in New Orleans this weekend visiting my DD and I made him call me when he left and when he got there and he'd Better call me tomorrow when he leaves.. he may be grown..but,he's still my baby.
Keeping fingers crossed for you hubby and sending prayers.
You got some great buys and I absolutely Love that butterfly plate.

Bright, thank the Lord your daughter is okay! Whew!

I purchased the little gold tree from Pier One last year, and went back to get another one for next year. Did you purchase the little ornaments for it also? Here's last year's edition of the tree all decorated:

A simple blood test can tell you if you are low in vit. B12. I give myself injections once a month. They are not painful at all. I haven't noticed a big difference yet and it's been a few months. Both Lupus and heart problems can cause the symptoms you describe. I hope you feel better soon. (((Judy)))

Is there any reason you can't go back to school now...the SS is in school fulltime (except summer). Why sit home in an empty house? Finish your schooling, work, get into a social setting (office, hospital, clinic) where you'll meet friends and do lunches with co-workers. Not to be mean, but Lady you worked far too long and hard to be sitting home miserable. Sign up for exercise classes if you'd like to meet people who might be walking/running buddies. Share recipes with and start feeling good about yourself. You are special, you count and you sound quite capable of being a every social good friend. Don't waste yourself staring at walls all day. You sound so very depressed. None of my business but if you are taking something for depression that can sometimes snag your sexual interest away (as can just plain a sense of low self esteem and feeling of total despair). While you've done the counseling route, have you had a good physical (blood work, checked for diabetes, blah blah)? It is possible that you are having the hard time 'loving' the SS because of the way your new marriage started out. Kinda placing the blame of your unhappiness on the child? You didn't say you dislike him or that he's a brat child or anything...that's a postive. How do the other children feel about SS and do they all get along? While you may never 'love' the child as you do your own children, I'm not so sure that is really something to feel guilty about. You're good to him, care for his needs...maybe if you get yourself up and out of the house and find some happiness and enjoyment in life you'll find the little guy is kinda likeable. You got smacked from being an active working woman with friends and comfortable surroundings to being the outcast and living in the shadow of a deceased first wife. You felt lost, alone and having serious second thoughts and on top of it all got handed an instant 'son' and told 'here, love him'. How is your anxiety levels. You mentioned several things that could point to problems there. Actually not knowing where a store is located should not be reason enough to not go...perhaps if you really wanted to go you'd figure it out fast enough. Are you using not knowing as an excuse for hiding. Again, none of my business and you certainly do not need to clarify for us, but sometimes depression meds (if you take any) do little for anxiety. It's really all up to you. You can stay and be miserable just as things are. You can explain to husband that you no longer see a need to 'babysit' a school age child (put him in daycare during the summers)and go out and meet the world again, or you can pack up and go back to where you came from and hope you can pick your old life back up again. Your posting was one of the most honest and saddest posting I've read here in quite a while, you poured it out from your heart and I'm not sure anyone here can actually advise you...only you know what you must do and only you can find the strength to do whatever that is. I wish you all the best and hope you can somehow find yourself again.

Just to weigh in with the other perspective, I've been on the other side of this situation. We're also in a city of small lots (ours is 50' x 115') and our back lot borders four properties. Houses in our area are built pretty close to the property lines (some right up against it). A couple years ago, the owners of the apartment building that borders one side of our backyard took all of the branches off of the bottom 30 feet of some evergreens that were the only thing separating our yard from the apartment building. The trees were on their property, and they had legitimate reasons for taking the branches off (wanted to reduce maintenance with needles dropping and ivy), but I was still livid---not that I said anything to them about it, because they were well within their rights, and we have and want to continue having a fairly good relationship with their property manager. However, now the units that face our property all look right into our backyard, and sound and security lights travel right to our bedroom window. It's frustrating, though we've planted screening trees of our own and in time they'll form a new screen between the properties. I would have loved having a heads-up that they were considering this, though, as we could have been that much further along on replacing the trees. So I can see where your neighbors may be coming from. You definitely didn't do anything wrong---it's your right to modify any landscaping on your property, and you didn't need to consult your neighbors---but I can sympathize with their perspective. They are probably concerned that they no longer have screening or shade in their yards or homes, and I imagine they're worried that you may not have plans to replant. I don't think it's over the top or unreasonable for them to contact you with their concerns (although they should also have acknowledged that it was your decision at the end of the day, and should have been polite about it!) This is definitely not something to move over, though! I would just apologize (again, you had no obligation to consult them, but they would likely have appreciated the heads-up), explain that some of the trees were dead or diseased, assure them that you'll be replacing them, and share your landscaping plan to help assuage their worries. If you want to take it the extra mile, maybe get a little houseplant for the neighbors who've contacted you and take it over with a note that it's some greenery for them in the meantime, while your landscaping goes in. It will definitely blow over---our frustration has mellowed over the years, and we never addressed the issue at all, so if you address it in a positive way, I'm sure all will be well. But it's always nice to let neighbors know if you have plans that will affect their properties---just fosters goodwill and better relationships, even if it's things they have absolutely no say in anyway. Well, I started with phals, I wouldn't say I mastered them...but I could grow them and reflower for years. I did Cats (didn't really like them though)...ugly plants and such high light hogs. Finally threw them out. I did Oncidiums (rather liked them), and had some for years, until I moved and didn't have proper conditions anymore. I tried dendrobiums (like kingianum and nobile types), I could grow kingianum, I killed nobiles. I never could flower any but Dendrobium phalanopsis of the ones I tried. So, basically, I'm in the spirit of continuing adventure...try some that I think are darn cute, small, and pray for the best. Seriously, I did research them on the net based on other's experiences, and I had hopes that these would do well for my conditions in my new house. I feel I can do better with these, as they don't require winter chill, and grow year round, like most standard house plants. Psychologically, I always preferred house plants that grow and change constantly...versus something like cats or cactus, that grow in spurts, with long periods of seemingly not much happening. More answer than you wanted ?Sorry...:) Seems I'm not far from you TommyBoy...being up the Springdale way myself. I'm glad your DD is ok. My 2 are 21&26 and still make them call me when they get home! I LOVE that plate! I can see why you fell off the wagon.

Hmmm! I think you might have set yourself up a bit for that fall, Bright--googled all the TS before you left home! LOL You sure found some pretty things. Love your plate and all the jars and vases. And what a great buy on that gold tree.

Pdg, your tree sure looks pretty and I love the way you displayed it too.

Luvs your right!!! I love Ashville even though it was very cold. And I'm not a mall person. So what else was there to do??!! It's to cold to walk around the Biltmore.. The little Biltmore shops have changed alot since our last visit. They had really bad flooding a couple of years ago so alot had to be rebuilt. But there is a wonderful Christmas shop.... lots of ideas we can do for cheaper.

Bright, I've actually had the pleasure of being in Ashville, N.C. and touring the Biltmore too. Loved it, and the gardens too. I also saw a special showing it all decorated for Christmas, sure would love to see that too.

Glad your daughter is doing okay. Did they take her to the hospital and check her out carefully? Bet she is just sick about her car, isn't she?

Can't wait to see how you use your new treasures, know you will enjoy each of them.

Practically drooling over that rabbit plate. You did a great job of falling off the wagon. LOL. Super finds all the way around. The cobalt will be wonderful for your garden junk projects.

Good news your DD is ok, what a scare. Hope she's not feeling too sore today.

Bright, no need to feel "ASHAMED" on this forum! In fact, I'm proud of you! You got beautiful pieces for very good prices! Love the cobalt blue items and that rabbit plate is so cute. I also think the cross (in the background) on your wall is wonderful and would like to find one of those myself.

"Ashamed"? HeeHee . . . that's why we're all here, Bright . . . we love decorating for the holidays and all the time! We enable each other and applaud each other's great finds. Love yours, especially that gorgeous cobalt candleholder. Gosh, that would look soooo good with my new dishes ;^P
