How much does a Kerdi install cost?
Comments (1)You should figure approximately 2.50 per square foot materials and labor (might be a little more or less, but not much) plus the cost of the drain, which is between 75- 100.00 depending on the finish you choose. As for the installer, shoot me an email, and I'll see how busy the guys I know in your area are....See MoreHelp from experts - Does Kerdi replace floating a shower?
Comments (4)First of all, Kerdi is NOT a type of cement board. It is a waterproof "fabric" that you can use over plain old drywall. It is part of an entire system that includes a special drain. It can be used with the Kerdi tray, which is a sloped styrofoam floor, or over a traditional mud bed. The advantage of Kerdi is that the waterproofing layer is right under the tile and thinset. With a traditionally built shower a pre-sloped mud bed is formed, then a waterproofing layer is put on top of that, then another inch or so of mud is on top of that before you get to the tile. That's a lot of cement that can soak up water. Also, since you are in San Jose, you should check and see if your builder is talking about hot mopping your shower - that's a whole other ball of wax tar....See MoreKerdi shower question
Comments (17)According to the technical service person at Laticrete that I emailed over the weekend, their pans can be cut to size. Have you ever done that? Recommended? I mud all my pans, and then install the membrane over the mud. AS for cuttung the pan trays, I don't see a problem with it. The company is KBRS Innovative Shower Systems (linked below). Do you know if this company is reputable? I've never heard of them before right now. DH says he's interested in this Tile-ez product. He says that it seems to be the easiest to install. Any feedback on this product (linked below)? Another one I've never heard of. One other thing to think about-- if you use someone else's materials for ANY part of the installation, Laticrete won't honor the warranty. Nor will Kerdi, if you go that route....See MoreHow much to install the Kerdi shower system?
Comments (4)It would be the tile guy, and you can expect about 2.50 a foot for the membrane, materials and labor, plus the cost of the drain, which, depending on finish, can be anywhere from about 80.0 to about 150.00, plus about 50.00 for installation, plus mudwork for the pan, unless you're going to have them use the styrofoam pan and curb, in which case she needs to make sure the drain pipe is "stubbed" properly....See Morebill_vincent
